I haven't been interested in the Final Fantasy series since the Super Nintendo and Sony Playstation entries, so I went ahead and spoiled myself by looking up the final boss to this game on YouTube. Without any spoilers, I gotta say this franchise has clearly changed and evolved into something completely different from what I grew up with as a kid. This could probably explain my lack of interest in the entries in this series from PS2 and beyond. I grew up with the turn based combat system, and now it's an open field battle environment in a closed space, with some hack and slash game play from what I can tell. I don't hate it, but it's not like I'm enthralled and wanting to go out of my way to play it either. I guess there's just no helping my situation, but that's fine with me. It's not like I needed to stay attached to an apparently ever-changing series just because I'm "nostalgic about the good old days." There's plenty of other great games out there that I want to play for sure. I know someone who has been into the Final Fantasy series since he was a kid, and probably treats it like some god-like entity to this very day, and has and/or probably goes out of his way to play every entry in the series. If that works for him, then good for him. It just doesn't seem to be how I want to do things though.

I enjoyed that song much more than I was expecting to, and I think it worked well with the trailer. I'm so excited to play this game.

I dunno, some of the older FF weren't that great either. Some are very good some were average I guess compare to other RPGs. Turn base battles are normally never popular in the states anyways compare to JP where DQ is still being pumped out every other year

I'd say out of the main series my favorites would be the 16-bit generation games on the Super Nintendo/Super Famicom in the order of Final Fantasy VI, Final Fantasy IV, and Final Fantasy V from most to least favorite of the three. I also thought the original Final Fantasy Tactics was an amazing game and I really enjoyed it, especially when it first came out. In fact, most of the RPGs I grew up with were all turn based JRPGs like Final Fantasy, Breath of Fire, Wild Arms, the Lunar series, Legend of Legaia, Chrono Trigger & Chrono Cross. However, naming a few, I have played The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Secret of Mana, Secret of Evermore, and Illusion of Gaia, which were all action/adventure RPGs.

Seems it has gotten some good reviews, despite players completing the 40 hour main story line in 13 hours.

FFXV I could see, but X, X2, XIII and XIII-2 are classic turn based Final Fantasys. XII has a Xenoblade style 'queing' combat, but I enjoyed it. No real interest in XV for it being short and action combaty, plus I've been told the final boss is a QTE like western AAA game, which sounds sacreligious if true. I'd say check out some spinoffs like World of Final Fantasy, which looks a hell of a lot more Final Fantasy than XV does.

I played X and while it's not one of my favorites for sure, I didn't dislike it either. That's basically where my interest in the franchise ended though. I'll have to check out World of Final Fantasy sometime then.

Never expected to have hip-hop paired with Final Fantasy.

Likely by skipping any sidequests or cutscenes.
