This is a welcome development, but what does it provide for veteran Shinkai fans? I say they should create a Voices of a Distant Star matchmaking event, in which one half of each prospective couple is given the heady privilege of warping into deep space and perhaps drifting there indefinitely. Unfortunate for some, but imagine the pathos!

A beautiful place to dine in, though the men will have to come with a bigger wallet to cover the tab.

It's a shame that "your name" didn't use the 1955 song "Only You" by the Platters. That would have fit in with the mood really well.
