Ugh... Kajishima has really committed to removing any charm or dignity from this franchise. More Chibi Tokimi? It's like he doesn't even regret that third OVA.

Somehow, I don't think that he does regret it. Just because some of the fans didn't like it doesn't mean that the guy who created it has any problems with it or even that the majority of fans were unhappy with it. You've been quite vocal about how you think that the 3rd OVA is terrible, but there are plenty of us who do not share that opinion.
Personally, I quite enjoyed the 3rd OVA. It was by no means perfect, and I certainly have a few gripes with it, but I'm very glad that we got it, and I'm very much looking forward to the 4th OVA.
Now, as for this particular bit of news, I don't find it particularly interesting. The song is okay but not great. And the clips don't really tell us anything, though they do show us something about how the animation is going to look. And from the little that we get from this, I really don't see anything to complain about. The real question is what's going to actually happen in the 4th OVA, and we won't know that until we actually see it.

I'd prefer to get more of Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari or the missing ending to Space Opera Agga Ruter. I already stopped caring for Tenchi, since he never decided on a girl, anyway. So more of "not deciding on a girl" doesn't really sound all that interesting to me.

The Ryo-ohki verse has practically established itself that he will have have a harem end. there are the books that have already been established...the GXP and War on Geminar establihsed that even further..while not directly ..you know it is there.
What i am hoping in this ova is for one for him to finally established it officially directly from him.
Second is for him to except his role of being the future jurian king or at least get in more intouch with the political aspect of that.
Third: this one i really hope they do established...it lets us know somewhat as to why kenshi was sent to Geminar in the first place.. War on Geminar is my fav spin off in the franchise but two of the biggest flaws it had was that it never established on why he was sent there in the first place and who really is maniuplating the events in the world..also the fact that it ended somewhat inconclusive that he never found way back and the imply that the crisis is not really over yet.
This fourth ova has the chance to at least answer the first part and that we get to see the events that lead kensi to be sent there.

Oh yeah, I'm all for an harem ending. If they can make it real. To date I only remember one anime with a harem ending and that one is called Seitokai no Ichizon. I wish more of them existed, but mostly it just ends with the protagonist never deciding on anything.

This looks about as okay as okay can get. For some reason, the production values and visual style remind me of a 2000's era production.

I actually like the new OP theme, sounds like it'll be catchy, and the new character looks aren't too bad. Even if Kajishima keeps on taking these characters in a story direction I don't care for, I'll be checking this out one way or another regardless.

Am I the only one who preferred the Universe continuity over the Ryo-Ohki stuff. Ryo-Ohki had greater highs, but I feel like Universe kept the quality more consistent.
Either way, I'd rather have another Tenchi Forever than continue after Ryo-Ohki 3.

Not at all. The 1st season OVA will always be the classic, but 'Universe' took all those elements and told a full expanded story that capped off with two great movies. It's been like comfort food for me, I can be in the mood to watch this series whenever!

Not very likely, since the events that led Kenshi to end up Geminar and what happened was addressed in some of Kajishima's doujins.
The kajishimaverse always had the problem that the released anime are only the tip of the iceberg. A LOT of stuff are in the novels and the doujins released usually every Comiket.

The general problem between Universe and the OAV-verse is that Universe is lot more grounded, has more fleshed out and consistent characterization. I also feel there was more "soul" embedded into the series with the movies (especially Tenchi in Love).
In contrast the OAV-verse is more epic in scale but while Universe was more show and tell the scale of the OAV-verse and what goes on "behind the scenes" makes the characters seem less accessible. It's like we get snippets and faucets of this much greater story and we as the fans have to do the detective work to figure out the how and why of things. Often times big reveals are domesticated back into the "slice of life" harem aspect of the show (Tokimi is a big one).
On the Western side it doesn't help that we were pretty much acclimated to all the Tenchi spinoff vs. prime Tenchi and as such stuff like Kiyone and Achika seem like stronger presences in the franchise compared to wealth of information Japan has with the OAV series.

I don't know about anyone else but I don't really seem to mind this. This'll seem like a lot of fun once it's released.

not quite. there are are lot of people would like to see more of tenchi. however i too wouldnt mind seeing more of iseki no seikishi monogatari (war in geminar). hopefully this will indeed solve some of the missing parts of that ova.
for one who was it that sent kenchi to that word? i have to suspect that washu had a part in it and was probably one of the two people from the first ep even though there were no voice over in the background. for one thing the pendant she gave to her which is from the same crystal that form ryo-oki's ship not only is similar to the crystal inside of the swan, but also attracts those corros like moths to a flame.
definitely cant be a coincidence.
then there is the fact that he can generate lighthawk wings as well and unlike his brother, kenchi isnt blood related to the royal family since its pretty obvious that his dad is an earthling and so is his mother rea. and its like that the others said. considering that there haven't been any info on whether or not he returned home can be one of two things. the first is that he chooses to stay or the crisis isnt over at the slightest.
and considering that lady tokime is back, i wouldnt be surprised if she or washu ends up being that goddess of that world. lets to hope that this will solve those questions as well as the big one of the franchise which is who is he gonna choose? we can clearly rule out ayaeka and sasami. sure while marrying blood relatives is allowed in jurai, its not the case on earth and i really cant see the ova's director going the incest route. its more or less will end up in two routes for him. one is he choose ryoko, or he does the harem route ala seina yamada from GXP which means expect to have an even more over the top weeding than in GXP if the director makes this ova have more fanservice.
