Nope, Lostorage is a direct sequel to Selector. The battlefield contains wreckage of the system from the previous series and a character from Selector is also seen in the opening.
Heh, well, the one who twisted the game in the previous series did so for the expressed purpose of being mean so whoever's running the game this time might be some one similar. |

I am not so sure of that, the game has changed a bit. Battles are a little more active, and outside of the appearance of spoiler[Kiyoi Mizushima(whom seems to only be a cameo)] very little seems to connect Lostorage with Selector. From what I have seen, it would be very fair to call this a reboot. |

Seems like we're in for quite the ride, judging by the atmosphere of the first two episodes.
One thing I think the show has wisely avoided (for the most part) is how silly some of the real-life cards can get, especially when it comes to the SIGNI. |

I watched the previous series and literally had no idea why people liked it so much. There were quite a few plot holes that made me wonder if parts were cut or the dark elements of the series were added later in the script without going back and fixing parts to make certain elements make more sense. After watching this version I was instantly pleased with changes made. Characters motivation, the risk vs reward, actually adding a reason the selectors HAVE to play are more established. Hope they can keep it up.

We are likely in for one, Selector was an emotional roller coaster once things got going. I think that the only thing that has been missing thus far is someone to replace the monstrous Akira Aoi, which is funny when you consider that spoiler[Kiyoi Mizushima] is around. Still, someone along the lines of that kind of crazy will make this more fun to watch. |

My default expectation when you have a show like this that is the follow installment within the same franchise, in a limited period of time, is that the story will trace very similar overarching points, just in a different way, with slightly tweaked characters. Since this is taking place in the same continuity, there is limited capacity to completely upend the system the past two seasons established without making that the narrative focus (though you could argue whether or not that would make for a more interesting show). That's just the way follow-ups usually are - they stick to an established formula with only minor changes. That doesn't inherently make them bad - if it ain't broke don't fix it - but I know that sort of thing turns most folks off.
Because the show is likely to retread that same ground, I don't think we'll get a whole lot of exposition on that aspect. It's important to remember too that it wasn't until season 2 that we really got a good sense of what was actually going on anyway, so it's not as if this series is particularly quick about laying its cards on the table. If I had to guess, I'd say the folks that lost aren't merely eternal, mindless, zombies. I suspect they're empty storage space, in a literal sense. They're being made into blank slates suitable for future LRIGs, or to be later possessed by LRIGs, like what happened in the last series. |

I think that following trends, it is unlikely that they just get a slight change of personality along with the loss of memories, not it looks like someone totally different is in their bodies. So far the premise seems to be the opposite of the Selector seasons, if they win a part of themselves (their mind) is altered, and if the lose they get turned into an LRIG and an LRIG takes over their body. Although under that general assumption it does not explain why an LRIG would want their Selector to win, which makes me theorise so far that an LRIG that wins gets the chance to take the body of a Selector that loses, other elements of LRIGs being made up of memories, likely those that lost is still open.
And do we not have a good grasp of Suzu? She does not want to hurt others or get hurt herself, but is not strong enough to not do anything, so when the threat of time is given she acts. Her decision was not so abrupt. As for her lack of looking to the internet for help it might also say something about her personality. I kind of like Hanna, and I am actually someone on the spectrum. |

Welcome to the review James, for my personal viewer experience I have mixed opinions on Lostorage as it goes so far.
You mentioned that for your viewing of the original Wixoss it struck too close to Madoka, from my own viewing experience Lostorage is too busy playing double duty of "this isn't the same as Selector " while playing too many homages to the Selector season at the same time (the most blatant was having Piruluk appear as a selector opponent cameo). That said, it is good to hear the reviewer is at least enjoying the experience. |

Thanks for the welcome! I'm pleasantly surprised with my enjoyment of the series; let's hope that doesn't change anytime soon 
And yeah, I'm definitely curious to see if these easter-eggs and callbacks amount to anything. The show seems very determined to distance itself from the original series, but at the same time it has also gone out of its way to remind past viewers that this isn't a reboot but a continuation. I wouldn't be surprised if it all just remains in the realm of minor references and such, but I am wondering if we won't get some kind of "Holy Crap" reveal/character return later on in the run. |

Why the change in reviewer? Schedule issues? Loss of interest in the series? I don't believe there has been a change in episode reviewer before.
I have no issue with change itself. Mr. Beckett has done a good job so far with his episode reviews, all of which I have followed. Though this has reminded me of my least favorite of his reviews which was also his first. Not because I thought it was of poor quality but because I did and do disagree with his assessment of the first series, though I do agree the spread did improve upon infected. Not really the place to prosecute the issue and really I'll just agree to disagree. |

It's happened a couple times? I know the first occasion was with Sailor Moon Crystal (Gabriella Ekens handed it off to Rebecca Silverman), but I don't remember the other specific instances. |
