I didn't like Blood the Last vampire- it was a bad movie to me.
Heres hoping the live action doesn't make the same mistakes.

Yeah, I thought the same thing. It was way too short, and was more like a tech demo for whatever technology they used that was apparently so revolutionary back in 2000.
On the other hand, Blood+ has been really great so far...

It was that genuine, original, new fangled, steam powered, computar generated imaging thangy, and I liked Blood, The last Vampire very much. My only gripe was that it was waaaaaay too short.

Blood+ is all right.
US military recklessly grows monsters that endanger the locals? Oh, this'll do gangbusters in Europe.

No, it's just that Blood+ was just way too long...by about 50 episodes. The picture for the new Blood movie looks great!!!

While I agree that the movie was too short, I loved it. I don't really think they made any terrible mistakes except for that. And if I remember correctly, it ended up being that short because they ran out of money. I sort of just viewed it as a quick glimpse of her story. Like a "day in the life" sort of thing. Saya still remains one of my favourite anime heroines. So far it looks like she stepped right out of the anime.
And yes at the time the movie came out it was a big deal you young'uns.

Blood was a great OVA. It was pretty short but that was only really a problem if you paid through the nose for it. I got my copy in a sale and was well pleased with it.

It's not just us Europeans you have to worry about...did you not catch the Korean movie The Host (aka Gwoemul)?

I've heard that the original Blood is short because they chose to put their effort behind developing Jin-Roh instead.

Jeez...You people are saying it's too short, and that's its only fault...But it was so short that it had no story. How can you like something like that?!

The original Blood anime movie wasnt that short - it was about the average time for an OVA type movie - nothing special with that. I thought it was pretty good personally. Blood+ of course blew all that away by having the drawn out back story about everything that was missing from Blood. But without the original Blood, Blood+ would never have existed... So be happy!

No, is it any good? I enjoyed Blood+, just thought it got slow at points.

Its shortness and lack of plot was its downside, but we can't do anything about it. They didn't have enough money for it. But what made it sweet was the animation and certainly the atmosphere. Also, for me it was character, Saya. Mysterious, cold, but definitely one of the more intriguing characters in my book. (I don't like Saya in Blood+ to much to be honest because of how she acts some times and it gets on my nerves.)
One of the reasons why I disliked Blood+ is that they decided on a new story, (which does have interesting elements especially taking in a scientific/sci-fi-ish view of Chiropterans, which was what I absolutely loved) instead of deciding not to continue the old story which had so much potential to delve into.
If anything, Blood: the Last Vampire would have been a fantastic pilot episode if the series continued because you want those answers.
And to comment on the production still, it looks good. Gaah, can't wait.

My crappy action heroine... I'm surprised not many people are commenting on the novel, though....
