I wrote this in another blog but I was able to get my volume 12 of Assassination Classroom, which recently released, signed by the man himself! Yusei Matsui! He was signing at a near-by Barnes & Noble. I think this is the bookstore he mentioned in the interview as well! Matsui sensei is very funny and very sociable.

He told the absolute best story about how when he first started out as a mangaka, his next door neighbors and peers looked down on him. This was the case up until he was being serialized weekly in Jump. The story was hilarious.

He answered a lot of questions and even shook hands with a lot of fans during a reception. I'm very grateful to have met Matsui sensei that NYCC weekend. One of the best of my life.

Great interview as always ANN! Maybe I can help with the next one?! Haha

I love Matsui-sensei's stories. Smile

I just hope to see an official English release of the Neuro manga one day... If AssClass is bringing in the money for VIZ, they could consider it.

"But, it is still true that when it comes to Japanese manga in America, the stereotypes are Dragon Ball, Naruto, JoJo, and those big titles"

Oh how I wish JoJo was bigger. Anyways, it was pretty cool meeting him at Kinokuniya. Got the last vol of Neuro signed and it was pretty funny since there was a picture of him from back in 2009 on the sleeve.

There's a possibility that I might tackle a genre not often tackled, one that tends to end rather quickly, or one that few manga artists have found success with.

so, I guess he will be doing shounen jump stlye echi next, since all of them tank after a year at best (still wondering how long will yuragi survive).

It's because he made Neuro that I knew AC would be a success.

Didn't you notice how Fuwa from AC (The purple-haired manga geek) kept referencing Neuro in season 1?

Fun fact: Fuwa and Yako have the same Japanese voice actress, Kana Ueda! If there ever IS a dub for Neuro, Kristi Kang should voice Yako.
