wait i'm confused, it says on myanimelist that it will have 85 episodes, if they mean 85 shorts then that means 17 long eps, so we get a new opening for like 4-5 eps?

What is MAL's source for that? Because I haven't been able to find an official confirmation of an episode count anywhere, including via MAL.

Funimation listed 85 episodes for the Saki anime (I got this from a reddit post thread) also MAL reconfirms this as well |

17 weeks/85 episodes, it's an odd number to come up with or stop at. Wait, does this mean it'll be stopping soon for a "full" run next season? If there isn't a long pause, it's going to be a new opener for very few episodes... I guess. This whole thing has been confusing from the start. I thought it stopped last week as it didn't update for me until three shorts were dropped on Saturday. One 5 episode series, 1 8 and this could be 7 or 8? Plus the one that took a break after 4? This season has been quite the no, well, no show. And here I was complaining too many shows were calling it quits at 10. |

Is anyone from ANN going to review this series when it ends?
If it was only the shorts and these lasted more would have been better. Yeah, the comedy is good, but the fact that each shorts is 3 mins a day, and the final episode being 5 segments in 22 minutes, makes it an odd anime seriesto watch for the mayority of people who didn´t read the manga(which is as good as the anime, but then again, the short time makes it a little bit unenjoyable). |

Actually, each short is a chapter of the manga, which only has 45 chapters translated out of 206 |

yes, but it also lists 24 full length episodes on the show's main page. Assuming that is correct, I don't know how that is supposed to work with only 85 mini episodes. |
