I personally think Oda shouldn't have made Dressrosa stretch out so long

So I guess that means another 28 years, if the series has only advanced 5% in the last 4 years.

It's at lease nice to know an estimated time, even if it's a long way away. Unlike shows like Detective Conan and Berserk where we don't even have the slightest idea how much longer it'll be. There's still tons of loose ends in DC's story that will take a while to fill...

So it only advanced 5% in 4 years?
Wirh 35% left and assuming a constant rate of 5% every 4 years that means there's still 28 more years of OP remaining and it's been serialized for almost 20 years now. That's honestly sounds really stupid to me. There are just so many things that can go wrong in that much time.

-The quality of the story has a higher chance of decreasing because it's becoming needlessly long.

-Oda's not in the best of health and he's been taking more breaks from writing chapters over the past few years. There's no way his body will be able to keep this up for another 30 years if he continues at this pace. His health could deteriorate so much that he may not even be able to finish the story as he originally intended to.

I feel he should step up the pace and aim to finish the story in no more than 10 years for himself and the fans.

No because unlike Naruto and Bleach, Oda stated he had the ending and middle planned like years ago. It's why he said that One Piece will probably be his only BIG manga in his lifetime, and that after it's finished he will probably go for more "smaller" manga. I feel more inclined to believe him than the other big three authors, as One Piece overall has remained solid. Some of the Arcs were "bad" but not Bleach bad in the slightest, he just dives deep into "why" something is instead of just saying "yep, accept this", I'd rather have something explained and the book closed forever than to leave any tied loose-ends.

Unreal, but not surprising. Another 30 years of OP. My grandkids will have a lot to watch then. Looks like Toei is going to need the folks who make the Naruto fillers.

Man, 5% just for one arc? I know that people are saying 5% in 4 years is too little, but Dressrosa lasted that long (or more).

Glad someone did the math before me. I was ready to calculate that.

Then again, Oda was stuck at 50% for a while too.

So as Oda states, the manga is at about 65% of its completion, which, if you do the math, means that One Piece will roughly end around Volume 125.

Volume 82 was just published and we're in the middle of Volume 83. 82 divided by 125 is 0.656, i.e. 65.6% completion of the story. This leaves us with 60 volumes for Part 1 and about 65 volumes for Part 2.

We still have a whopping 43 volumes of story left to go in One Piece (give or take).

At a release rate of about four volumes per year, we still have about 9 1/2 years to go of One Piece. There's so many unanswered questions about the story and questions yet to come for this series. Can't wait to see what Oda has in store. Just wanted to see if I can clarify some math here for you guys.

Oda is perfectionist. Manga will end at 1200th chapter. It is commom knowledge based on that after every 200 chapters something important happens. Around 600th we had time skip. 1200th will be the last.

Yeah, that seems about right.
Even after the Yonko Saga, there's still plenty of plot threads and teased events that need to happen before we even reach what would be the final stretch.
Which is funny since some people thought after events of the Zou arc, the endgame was starting to build up.
Although, I'm not going to take this percentage as gospel since Oda is known to underestimate how long story arcs can go on for. I'd take this more as a guesstimate.
