Very sorry to hear about this; I considered myself a fan, and always kind of hoped she might get a shot at directing at Ghibli. I say that because of an illustrated novella she wrote called "The Tree at the Center of the World" (世界の真ん中の木). It was really impressive; I wondered if it might be a veiled proposal for a movie that unfortunately never happened.
