Cool, this definitely deserves an anime adaptation. And while no staff has been announced yet, I fully expect Shaft to be the studio.

I read the two books Del Rey released back in the day, and at the time I figured this should make for a decent anime.
Yes, I'd be VERY surprised if SHAFT aren't doing this...

Yeah, get hyped! The reviews of Zaregoto I read so far, be it Japanese or Chinese, are overwhelmingly positive but I did notice something in similar in those reviews:
"This novel will be very hard to adapt if one day it gets animated"
Dang...color me interested. If that is the case, then it has to be Shaft's insane yet effective style to make it work. Assume they gave enough efforts like Monogatari instead of Sasami

Small error in the article. Jun Aikawa is female, needs changing to "she".
OT: I am so hyped for this. Hopefully it adapts past the second novel! I want to see what happens after!

People uncovered in line 9 of the countdown source code the following
SHAFT/Aniplex/Nishio project
So it's pretty much confirmed

Seeing the Monogatari numbers, across the mediums, must've caused the sponsors to try adapting more of the author's material.

YES!
More Nisioisin is always good news. Hopefully this encourages someone to get on translating those novels some more. I'm really excited to read them and watch this.

Excellent inevitable news. 8D
Ever since the two voulme Del Rey books (and online fan translations), Zaregoto is the only Nisioisin work I actually care about. If it's SHAFT, I'll watch it anyway even if I'm not a fan of their style.
Can't wait for voice cast and writer announcements!!

I don't mind Shaft doing it as long as it's like Monogatari and NOT like *cough cough* Mekaku City Actors....

So I guess this new novel series can stand on its own without too much knowledge of Zaregoto, since it's getting an anime itself? Or is Zaregoto the one getting the anime?

YES. I'm SO PUMPED. I literally just finished reading the first novel. I loved the art style of Katanagatari, so I'm really, really happy that something with designs by Take is getting an anime.
Also, although it's almost confirmed Shaft is going to be animating it, it's not impossible that some other studio could. After all, Katanagatari, which was written by Nisioisn also, was given to the studio White Fox.

As long as it's not Gainax, who didn't make the Medaka Box anime, which doesn't exist.

Oh yeah, speaking of, SHAFT and Aniplex were listed on the webpage according to someone the other day, so I'm about 99% sure it's them.
@killjoy_the I believe Zaregoto is the one getting the adaptation, as per the article title.
