Folks should read Transcend Game. You more than likely shouldn't misinterpret what was said in the article.

Not really. The movie is targeted towards people who watched the original series on TV which was 16 years ago since it first aired in 2000. The people watching the special most likely haven't seen DM in ages and showing a lot of iconic scenes probably refreshed their memory and built hype for the movie.

The special mostly introduced Yugi and Kaiba. It didn't show all of the key events. The only clip that was worth to watch was Osiris vs Obelisk.

Well the movie is going to be about Yugi and Kaiba. Besides just old fans they might also want to attract fans who are new to YGO as well which is why they recapped major moments from Kaiba and Yugi's story arcs.

Thanks for the answers guy but I doubt Yami will show up. Wouldnt that kill the ending of the manga?

The old fans didn't need a re-introduction of Yugi and Kaiba. If you didn't know enough about Yugi and Kaiba, then you weren't enough into YGO back then. For the new kids it's helpful, but not for the older guys. And again, the special taking the spot of the 102nd ARC-V episode wasn't worth it. They literally had two episodes the week prior to the special because of the ping pong game that delayed episode 96. It shouldn't be that difficult to get a one-hour spot again.

The whole point of the ending (and GX) was that Yugi himself became more and more like Atem. The trailers only tease us, since Atem is way more popular than Yugi and was the actual hero. But Atem is finally dead like he deserved it. After being trapped for 3,000 years, he could finally rest together with his old friends and family.

The description basically just sums up what we've already seen in the PV trailers but who cares I'm still excited about this new Yu-Gi-Oh! movie.

To you it may not have been worth it but I still think it was an effective marketing tactic. Like I said earlier there might be a lot of kids whose first YGO anime is ARC-V and have never seen DM at all. This special is the perfect chance for them to figure out what it's all about and who Yugi and Kaiba are. Konami and NAS want as many people as they can to go and watch the movie. If it wasn't obvious already with all the promotion going on, this movie is expected to rake in A TON of money. Having the special air less than a week before the movie premieres is the most effective time. They also wanted to attract people by promising to show the first 3 minutes of the movie too, but not enough so you would feel intrigued to go to the theater and watch it. From a business point of view this movie is just more important than ARC-V and is expected to make more money. Konami and NAS are trying to maximize that as much as they can.

It's a shame that you can pretty much predict how the duel between Yugi and Kaiba will go and how it will end, if you look at the revealed cards.

Yeah, but that's not a surprise either. There might still a few cards that might have been not revealed. As far as I know, there hasn't been any revealed evolution of Black Magician yet, except Mahad, but that's a pre-evolution (and I kind of doubt that he will be played in the first place). I'm still waiting for Starve Venom Fusion Dragon.
