In this dark time in which one company appears to be dying a horrible death, it's very nice to hear of another licensing something that probably won't sell that well but will be welcomed by the few worthy fans out there. Thanks ADV for another beautifully animated, likely very well dubbed, and hopefully very enjoyable anime. Thanks and keep on keeping on.

A lot of people talk about Kanon and AIR in the same way, so hopefully I'll enjoy Kanon as much as I'm enjoying AIR right now. (Only got the first disc, but it is nice.) I'll be waiting with breath held for this one.

Oh, and just FYI, I'm totally willing to pay extra for more Valkyrie anime DVDs, so consider financing a new production! Cool

Seriously, I'm addicted to that series, I'd pay Bandai Visual prices for it.

I am really happy to hear this and I look forward to owning the series. I hope that ADV makes an artbox for Kanon. The artbox for Air is really beautiful and is one of the best looking artboxes I have ever seen. Thank you ADV for licensing another great anime that I want to own.

Well, after the trailer leak, this seemed likely to happen sooner or later, but it sure is nice to hear the news, especially in light of the Geneon events.

All hail the power of Unyuu!

Kanon is confirmed, so I can start doing the happy tanuki dance! First, however, I have to mop the tea off of my keyboard because I expelled an entire mouthful through my nose when I saw Kanon referred to as a "slice-of-life television series". Laughing

I would've enjoyed a different dub company. Not only because it would be a slap in the face for ADV since they did all that hinting, but because I've rarely enjoyed ADV's choices in female voices...

They also tend to pick some really out-there male VAs as well, I'd kinda like to "recognize" Yuuichi from the start, much like what I felt with Sugita.

Anyone who is surprised is a communist.

Now really, I honestly couldn't get over the Air dub...Michiru, Misuzu...everyone just sounded bleh to me. I can say one thing though, if Yuuichi is dubbed by Vic, I will personally go down to ADV's studios, and kick the casting directors ***. Using him for publicy is wrong.

...Atleast the old one didn't get licensed. I loved the old one too.

And I think everyone sounds great. It evens out. You can forgo the dub and listen to the Japanese, I can listen the English dub, and we both can buy the DVDs legally. The Japanese get their licensing fees. Everyone wins.

Can't we all just be happy either series was licensed? Or that ADV's around to license them? (Or are we using the supposedly intollerable English dub as an excuse not to buy the R1 DVDs?)

Geez, every thread for a license, it's either "why hasn't Title X been licensed yet?" or "I hate every dub this company does."

Just to balance things out, the fact that ADV has the license makes me more likely to watch Air and Kanon. I mean, I have friends that like the show, so I was already mildly interested, but a lot of my favorite dubs are ADV.

When I first heard "MINAGI!" by Michiru, I was struck with a "WHAT THE F*CK" on my face. She sounded like a nazally 40 year old woman who had laryngitis. Misuzu, my main concern with her is that you can easily hear her "Gao"s are forced. "Gh...Oww..."...Yea, never touching it myself, I gave Air a chance, and it really flunked with me. Kanon, I don't think really will need one, seeing how you get three samples in episode two of Air.

Sorry, it is a self opinion, I hated it.

Thank you, my sentiments exactly. I hate having rocks and bottles thrown at me for confessing my dislike for the series.

I have to agree with Yuuchi Aizawa on some points.

I can't stand Vic Mignogna, both as a person and an actor, at all and sadly, Air is the first time I've heard Serena Varghese in a role, but I'm extremely displeased and I can't stand her voice whatsoever and it makes me wary of 5 Centimeters Per Second where she has a role.

If worst comes to worst, we always have japanese track + subs. I'm still really glad to see this licensed for R1. I look forward to buying the DVDs.
