This sounds less like "facilities not availiable" and more like "sweeping the 'dirt' under the rug"

I feel like it's probably a good bit of both. The Olympics are going to use a massive amount of resources and having Comiket occur within weeks of the Olympics ending could easily be seen as a huge strain on the area. It might be good to have a little more time to clean up and get things back to normal.

It's too bad they don't have a real convention space to use, something that would be fully enclosed indoors and air conditioned. They're already far too overgrown for Big Sight.

Is there actually anything bigger though?
It seems to me like the only solution might have to be smaller and more specialized comikets. if you found some way to section off the female and male series maybe that might help.

This doesn't make sense. There are a ton of smaller and more specialized doujinshi events already.

They already do that to an extent; "Jump Day" primarily comprises shonen series (like the super popular sports anime), and it's almost exclusively women that go. Men tend to dominate the second day, IIRC, where lots of hentai is sold. I worked a table for a friend who had a circle there that day and it was...an experience. There was a cloud of sweat fog lingering on the ceiling.

So yeah, separating by men/women isn't going to help much, and it's already spread out over three days with different material each day to accommodate everyone. Going to another city is really the only option, but I don't want to travel that far personally (especially in the height of summer).

I'd advise them to move to Osaka for all intents and purposes. Although it's sad that they can't hold the event for nearly a year starting in 2019. However the main focus for right now, is to make it a protected site, to keep the tyrants like the IOC's hands out of it's affairs.

Just say no to the Olympics just like you should say no to crack, what both of those have in common is they do nothing but destroy everything around them.

As nice as it would that Comiket comes westward, wouldn't that be hard to do given copyright laws? Like, sure, we have artist alleys at cons all the time here, but how big are they allowed to go?

Then again, Comic-Con has an artist alley, right? Maybe it can be done. Still don't think that's where the jump is going here.

Attendees have to realize that the Olympics are an important thing. That means that have to comprise when it comes to their event.
The people who are running the event have to find a feasible solution.Maybe running it at a smaller venue over say two or three weekends might able to do it.
In other words both sides have to suck it up and be adults about this.

The article is is about moving west to other areas of Japan, not "The West," like Europe, U.S., etc.

Seems Akamatsu was right, they try to hide anime and manga subculture (and maybe create more draconian restrictions to freedom of speech from now on till the event) to please foreigners that will invade Tokyo in summer 2020 for these crappy and useless games.

Well, better Osaka or another prefecture than nothing, at least will not be canceled.

It does seem like they're just trying to hide the side of subculture which is seen as less appealing to mainstream culture. I doubt many of the sellers will be very happy about this.
