Mm, I hope these come to the US/EU. I love the transparent cases.

It definitely feels like a throwback to special-edition consoles/controllers from the 90s and early 2000s.

It's a shame that the games industry isn't into transparency as they were before.

I really hope Nintendo will bring these special-colored 2DSes and the special event of Mew to the U.S. I would totally go for the Yellow Version.

I think only three will ever come to here:

-Red
-Blue
-Yellow

Since Green never came to the west.

Or rather, Green Version will become Blue Version. The Japanese Blue Version never got released outside of Japan, though what actually happened was more complicated than that: The Japanese Blue Version cleaned up some sprites and fixed some glitches (though, as any longtime Pokémon fan will know, there were plenty of glitches that slipped through). When the initial Pokémon games were localized, Nintendo of America took the Blue Version, with its better sprites and glitch-fixing, and modified the Pokémon available to match the Japanese Red Version and Green Version, and called them Red Version and Blue Version, respectively.

In any case, I do like those cases. It's been a while since I've seen transparent ones. Why did they fall out of style? (Well, I did continue to see 3rd-party hardware still have them for every major home system, but I guess the exposed technology made people look like nerds?)

It's an option so if they want to spend their money (or parent's) money on it that's their choice.

While I don't play Pokemon, I can relate. I hated how Dog Day" was region locked on CR to some Asian countries. If another licensor had picked it up, I could see that being justified. However that wasn't the case. I especially find this unusual since the 1st 2 seasons weren't region locked for the USA.

The 2DS may be a good option for those who want to import Japanese 3DS games that didn't come out here (Dai Gyakuten Saiban, por ejemplo) but don't want to spend an arm and a leg on a New 3DS.

We get to keep the leg for a little while longer.

Gen 1 Nintendo 3DS systems are also a good option but not for playing games from other regions (like all the 3DS lines)......especially if those games are in a language you can't read to start with.
