Chivalry in the top 5 of the week? The people who were calling the show the Worst One literally after the first episode look about as foolish as the students who called Ikki the Worst One before he won against Shizuya.

^ I don't expect people to know from the first episode whether the 10th is gonna be good or not, but I guess that's just me!

Of course you can't necessarily know that a show is going to be good from just the first ep. It's just that it was vehemently written off by some as the worst show in its weak genre but has shown them over to be very wrong over its run, not only being one of the best in its genre in a while but also one of the best shows of the week.

You know, both sides could be right.
The show may have actually started out quite horrible and earned its spot as the worst show out the starting gates, and then over time it has redeemed itself.
I haven't watched it myself, so I am not calling it anything, other than unwatched.

True, the first ep and even the first few were not amazing. But considering how well regarded by the viewers it has been, it seems those who wrote it off were too hasty in doing so. An understandable mistake, but a mistake nonetheless. I'm not saying it's a must watch but the contrast between reviewers' initial impressions and viewers eventual impressions are amusingly big to me, especially this week.

Or everybody who dislike it has jump ship leaving only the hardcore of the hardcore in the genre, who would rate anything highly.

That is possible and likely part of it. However, one would expect that the same would happen with the similar Asterisk War, even to a lesser extent. While Chivalry has gone up from near the bottom to near the top, Asterisk War has stayed near the bottom. I can't imagine the effect of losing non diehards would be that different between the two, even if they largely choose Chivalry over Asterisk War. Man it's great to have a natural experiment to help ones argument. Thanks Anime Gods, err Anime producers for making such a nice natural experiment by airing two similar shows in the same season

I am a fan of Gakusen Toshi Arterisk and have been keeping track of both Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry and Gakusen Toshi Arterisk episode reviews given each week.
I am very happy that Gakusen has always win Rakudai Kishi No Cavalry by 1 grade no matter which episode it is. And the reviews written are always siding Gakusen Toshi Arterisk as a better anime that starters should watch instead of Rakudai Kishi No Cavalry.
However, as the episode review reached episode 10. I find it funny that the 10 minutes plus of effort given by the Rakudai Kishi No Cavalry anime producer in making it a very epic battle with excellent visual and sound was also given a bad rating by the reviewer in Animenewsnetwork and again, lower than Gakusen Toshi Asterisk by a grade.
For instance,
Rakudai Kishi No Cavalry episode 10: C+
Gakusen Toshi Asterisk episode 10: B
If i were to compare this 2 Anime in terms of episode 10, I will say Rakudai Kishi No Cavalry did a better job and offer everything you want to see in a fighting scene than Gakusen Toshi Asterisk. Yes, i may like Gakusen Toshi no Asterisk more but this credit need to be given to Rakudai Kishi No Cavalry and I just can't deny it no matter how bad it has been rated by the reviewer as always since Episode 1. It makes me wonder if the rating is based on Biasness or Hater of Rakudai Kishi No Cavalry to promote Gakusen Toshi Asterisk to starters of this Anime Season.
But then, this Best and Worst of the season shows an amazing jump of 8 rank to Rank 4. While Gakusen Toshi Asterisk is at the bottom still. I felt this was justified for Rakudai Kishi No Cavalry episode 10. But Gakusen.. You need to work hard on it though you have Season 2. Prove it to me as your hardcore fan. =D

The reviewers. There isn't one big opinion machine that shoots out reviews for the site. Asterisk is being reviewed by Theron Martin, Chivalry is being reviewed by Rebecca Silverman, and these two reviewers are totally different people. Just FYI.

Hopefully not to be presumptuous, but I believe that Theron likes these types of shows better than Rebecca. (Just my impression from reading years of reviews by them.)

Oops forgot to write what I was originally meaning to.
I am watching Chivalry but not Asterik-- they are not my cup of tea. And I was going to drop Chivalry then the firsts action scene (in episode 3?) and I liked the cinematography so decided to wait, and it has only become better as the story progressed.
Still not something I would recommend unless the person liked ecchi shows.

Episode 3 was the first major selection battle, yes.

I think that's a fair statement - we all try to be open-minded, but we are human and do have our preferences. I do think that by and large Rakudai has improved, and, gimmicky or not, I really liked last week's episode...and I admit that I'm kind of sad it's ending this week.

The problem with Rakudai was that it's basic plot reflected a lot of other shows that have bee released in recent years and since most of them were bad they thought it would be too. however this one is actually one of the few that is ''ACTUALLY GOOD'' it improves with each episode as it breaks a lot of cliches and assumptions and moves the story ever foward. the the romance actually develops quite realistic, also it removed the harem route quite early. (You should see Volume 9 that was the deal breaker)
While There are shows with ups and downs.Chivalry has been on a constant rise since it started and to have reach the top 5 at this stage when starting at the bottom..you have to give it credit for the effort it is doing.
Don' blame the people for making that assumption blame the market that has so many bad copies of each other..that they cover the actual good ones.
