While I think this is cool and all, I just feel that there are too many sword-wielding characters in Smash already.

I definitely wouldn't have thought of Cloud, but I'm cool with the choice. While there are other Final Fantasy characters I would have preferred, there's no doubt that Cloud was a big part of how people got into the series (or even RPGs in general, like myself), so it only makes sense for him to be chosen.
I'm still holding out hope that Bomberman gets in too, though. |

Never played the game myself but this honestly seems like one of the best choices they could've made, even if Cloud has never had a strong showing on Nintendo systems. Edit: spelling |

There shouldn't be a reason, hell they put Snake in there, we got Sega characters in there. Now who else wants to join SSB ranks? Hell, put BOF in there. Is there anyone we've missed so far? I can buy this more than tossing Friday the 13th's Jason into that...damn I forgot what that fighting game was. |

I dunno, I feel like there's just something.... wrong about Cloud. I mean, he's kind of the definitive swordsman for the PS1. If we count his other major appearances as that movie and Kingdom Hearts, I dunno if he's ever really shined on a Nintendo system. If they had picked someone from FF1-6, that would've made more sense.
He looks like he'd be incredibly fun to play as though! I hope they'll add a Dragon Quest character to balance things out! (Preferably from #1-7, 9, or 10, since 8 was PS2, though now it's getting a port too, woohoo!) |

Strangely enough, no one mentions that a FFVII stage will also be added, unless it's already in SSB? It looked pretty fun with all of the summons wrecking havoc on the stage.
I'm looking forward to this! |
