Man, i feel vicariously frustrated for Mike Toole for that first interview; Hideyuki Kikuchi seemed determined to not give any substantial answers to anything. A lot of "Of course it will be there, if we decide to include it" The second part was much more insightful.

Man, I am really attracted to Yoshiaki Kawa... I mean D.
Ahem
But really, this interview really does show just how far away this adaptation is from airing. When Kikuchi said he doesn't remember all the lore he has written seems kinda funny to me, since D has remained such a lasting series thanks to the interesting world and D's character.
If there was a hierarchy of anime directors that appeal to the mainstream american crowd, I feel it would be Miyazaki, probably Shinichiro Watanabe, and then Kawajiri.

I agree, although I didn't glean anything useful from the second one either. These guys (or their interpreters) should be politicians. They've completely mastered the non-answer answer.

^but the buzz about this "new" project has me ol' bones a tingling.
So I think it has served its purpose quite well.
And the mere mention of this eventual appearance of the "sacred ancestor" tells me the beginning of the end is near?
I love it when ANN has these interviews. Thanks.

I read many of his books and I feel that his books are better as TV/movies then books since, I guess without going too much in detail, are simple but effective characters and story

Well, Kikuchi is an extremely prolific writer, publishing new volumes for several series every couple of months. He usually publishes one or two new D books a year, not to mention his other ongoing series and standalone works.

That first interview with Kikuchi looked so frustrating! Although it was nice to hear him say how important it was to him that he not forget the underlying purpose of D's journey. Kawajiri seems like a thoughtful person. You can definitely tell he's still very passionate as an artist. I always love watching films from guys like him. Cool interview.

Well, I'm all for a new 'Vampire Hunter D' project but I'm a little skeptical with it being entirely CG. I wonder if they will be able to produce the quality level that 'Appleseed' movie have done or at least attempted to do.
Hell if they went the 2D/3D hybrid routed I'd pick studio MAPPA for the job.
