Oh sweet, that's a nice bonus for the pre-orders.
I've been checking out the gameplay and commentaries of this series ever since seeing the OVA last year. Looks interesting on most parts.

I am so glad this is coming out for the PC. It seems to be a trend with JRPGs. If it wasn't for the new Disgaea and the FFVII remake I would have no interest in buying one of the new consoles. Have my fingers crossed that this will be the last generation where consoles don't run on a unified operating system!

Absolutely can't wait! The Tales series is my favorite video game series and I have the sweet PS4 CE ordered
I have my CE ordered at Amazon and I could have sworn that when I bought it the pre-order DLC was included as well but since the CE is sold out on amazon its no longer mentioned, is it safe to assume I'll still be getting it? because the standard edition still shows the pre-order bonus dlc as well.

Smart move on the marketing for the west. Alisha is nowhere to be seen in it, but Rose is. Good job Bamco there. Most casual fans who will pick this up don't care about that whole mess and this helps to downplay it further.
Other than that, the game does look good and I'm interested in playing it. Hopefully it's better than the Amazon Japan reviews have made it out to be.

Gamestop (and Amazon) announced the 2 DLC packs (the costumes and the weapon attachments) months ago.
What I want to know about is the Alisha DLC, which EU gets as a day-1 free DLC (IIRC, it's up for free for 2 or 3 weeks). There hasn't been any word on a US release.

To my knowledge, both GameStop and Amazon have the same pre-order bonuses for the non-CE: the classic costume pack, weapon attachments, and special artes. It's been listed that way for a couple months at least, so is there any difference now in what's being offered between the two retailers?
The CE comes with a whole mess of bonus goods, but I was okay with what I got just with Xilia's first-print run (which was like a soft-LE, I guess?), so the regular version will be what I pick up. Not sure of the word on which version is better, though. I heard the PS3 version has its issues, but the PS4 version may have issues all its own introduced in the porting.

Basically before the game was released in Japan, there was a lot of advertising that implied Alisha was the main Female Protag for ToZ since she was revealed alongside Sorey and Mikleo and was in the OVA. That and the trend with all Tales up to this one was that the first girl character you meet is the Heroine.
However, when the game came out this wasn't the case. Alisha is apparently a temp. party member, and the less advertised Rose was the more prominent Heroine. Safe to say a lot of people weren't happy in Japan, as was seen when the Amazon.jp reviews for the game were in the 1-2 star range.
Though I joke that Mikleo is the real "heroine" of the game, or at least fits the typical role of a Tales one. Childhood friend, most important person to Protag, implied love interest, the one he confines in, etc.
Even the creators made it clear in an interview that a typical Boy/Girl pair wouldn't work for Sorey, and Mikleo is the one he wants to stay with. I give them props, not often do we have a Gay romance in JRPG, even if there's no real confession.

Wasn't there some screwy story moments where it seems Alisha was going be with the party for a long time but had to "drop" out due to story reasons, and Rose seemed like her shoe-in replacement?

That's what I've heard, but I've also heard the opposite that Alisha leaving and Rose taking over was completey reasonable given who they are and the story. I can't be sure about that whole issue until I play the game in English.
Though the messy way it was handled may be because the creators never intended Alisha be the heroine in the first place, she was just the first female you meet which is why she was heavily promoted (which is horrible advertising personally.) They also said that the heroine is up to the player, which didn't help at all with a lot of fans. This is all according to translated interviews from JP gamers.
The DLC apparently helps explain what Alisha was doing since she left the party and helps strengthen her relationship with Rose, so maybe that helped ease the tension among fans. My access to the DLC is limited to just tiny fan translations though, so I can't be sure.

This article is incorrect. If you read Bandai's actual post it only says that the strategy videos are exclusive to Gamestop. It does not say that the costumes and attachments are exclusive to Gamestop. They were announced months ago with both Amazon and Gamestop offering that pre-order bonus.
