Not only that, but it's just "potential." If the winner's not good enough, I would presume, she'll be turned down too.

I saw an amv once with an idol scene from some anime (maybe love live?) I had no clue those dance moves were actually done by real idols. Man what a site. Well it was pretty cute at some points.
