Don't speak Japanese etc, but from the clips it almost looked like the film is just rehashing the story from the first season? They're not doing that annoying thing where something happens which means the group have to start from scratch, are they?

Man, I hope we get this here somehow… presumably through Crunchyroll, since nobody ever licensed the first movie or TV series for home video. Much as I like Love Live! for being snappily-paced and fun, WUG! is richer and more interesting. Heck, I bought the Wake Up Best! compilation album last week off iTunes Japan.

EDIT: Corrected statement about licensing. Movie & TV series stream on Crunchyroll; no one has ever picked it up for home video.

Can't say that I saw anything from the TV series or initial movie (TV special) being rehashed in this trailer. It's clearly a sequel set after the I-1 Club competition where the TV series ended. Would love to own this series as well, and I'm looking forward to these two films. Hopefully these will be more akin to an actual film unlike the TV special which was basically just the first two episodes of the TV series (albeit with much higher quality animation than the TV series had)

Apparently no.

The girls there are shown making their way to Tokyo and had a hard time there making their name known.

And some conflicts along the way...
