I saw some of the gameplay and seems interesting. However, I'm not having strong hopes for this until we see more info about the staff and a preview.
Game adaptations are usually a hit or miss.

The only real game adaptation that impressed me is Shingeki no Bahamut: Genesis. Well, we'll see.

I wouldn't be surprised if the anime winds up here. We got the Shining Hearts anime, which is based on an unlocalized Sega PSP game.

It would be nice if they released the game here. The original one on Gamecube was one of my favourites.

I think for the sake of it now flopping, they should start at having it be 12-13 episodes. But, as I don't really know about the business practices of said companies, that's why I say that.

The story takes place on Earth? Is this really a Phantasy Star anime?

That's what I thought. Sounds like this is a Phantasy Star story in name only. I don't get it, the Phantasy Star universe has a broad array of worlds to work with, between the original series with the Algol System or Ragol from the first PSO so why set it on Earth?

If its original than why call it PSO 2. I don't get the two. Just call is Phantasy Star or PSO the anime.
Honestly I want to see an anime or something of the phantasy star 2 portable part 3 that never made it outside of japan, and even there it was digital only, because it wraps up the PSU story which I actually like a lot.

Well Phantasy Star Zero was set on "Earth"
And Phantasy Star II has the Earthmen on Noah
And Aron's ending of Phantasy Star III ends up at Earth

Hrm. I've wondered if this might end up happening one day though I never really expected it. I love the game and its easily one of my favorite MMOs (hurray for patches letting you put the game nearly entirely in English lol.) but I cant say I have high hopes for this.
