Not a fan of the artwork/visual shown but the premise sounds promising. It looks like a film though so I hope it's long enough to get the story across if it's funded.

OK this is starting to get a bit silly now, when some small studio comes along and asks for money for something, they either can't get funding for, or they can at the expense of losing creative control, wonderful.
But why do they need money for this, Studio 4°C spends a fortune on projects, probably ten times the amount this whole Kickstarter is asking for, yet suddenly they need money. And Keiji Inafune made a ton of money through Kickstarter, think of all the profit he will make from sales after Might No9 comes out, yet here he is asking for more money.
And the goal sounds pretty bad, we've had similar stuff before where, if the stretchgoals aren't meant you would be getting an unfinished game(go look at some of the kickstarters for games, the content for the stretchgoals in a lot of cases are core gameplay elements, levels and bosses). And here they are saying we ideally need $800,000, yet the goal is $150,000, and 2,480,000 from the sounds of it being what is needed for this game to actually be, well you know finished.
This doesn't have the Megaman factor that Mighty No9 had, so if you back and it only reaches its goal, congratulations you've just brought a partly finished game, which makes the devs just as bad as the AAA industry they criticise.

What, you're telling me you don't want to fund their completely risk-free anime? They only want $2m from us, in a month, for something sight unseen.

Might want to check the kickstarters first. There are 2 separate things.
The game initial goal is $800,000
The anime, another kickstarter has $150,000 as the initial goal and is separated from the game.
So you will be getting a full game. The stretch goals add extra stories.

Now ignoring these comments people make before actually reading and checking out the stuff first. I must say that the anime kickstarter might be the most stupid I've ever seen.
$150,000 initial goal for 5 minutes is just stupid. If they were any smarter they should've just put a higher initial goal with more runtime. So people atleast want to back it instead of waiting until stretch goals are reached. The physical reward tier is at $94 which is stupidly high. Early bird level is a little $4 cheaper.
Oh the game physical tier also is $89. Which also is incredibly stupidly high.
It looks like none of the parties have any clue about kickstarter or any idea how to properly attract people in general. They did Mighty no9 and yet haven't learned anything from it. Well it's probably because they did Mighty no9 that they think they will get money easily.
Somebody has to get people like this off their high horses.

Finally, a new Mega Man Legends game! And Comcept got Yuuki Kaji and Hochu Ohtsuka to be in the promo video, so that's cool too.

That's not how funding works. Studio 4°C doesn't spend its own money; it's given money on a per project basis. I see a lot of people that think that an anime studio is just given a blanket budget to spend on their projects through an entire period of time, but that isn't the case. Comcept can't give them the money because Comcept doesn't have it, so they'd have to line up producers and set up a committee and everything, but due to the nature of this project, it's unlikely that would work, which is why they're crowdfunding.
And just like with anime production, game production doesn't work like that. Comcept hasn't released a game yet and they aren't backed by a publisher. The Kickstarter money from Mighty No. 9 has already been spent on development, salaries and fees. A full team of developers can't work for free, either, so that money needs to come from somewhere. So, if they choose to do a Kickstarter and that works, it's win/win for everyone involved. They get to make their game and the fans get what they pay for without the risk of bankrupting themselves by trying to sell a product that no one wants.

what sh**storm?? am a backer for it, but i had a media black out with anything concerning the game to properly enjoy it when it releases.

All the "shitstorm" is because of graphics and a community manager. I played the beta and it was very enjoyable aside from one thing: speedrunning (I love speedrunning megaman 2, 3, X and X2) doesn't give you a lot of score. That is my only complaint about the game.

Yeah that was such a small issue that people turned into a "shitstorm". The kickstarter goal for this is obviously to show investors that there is an audience for this(do people really believe that it'll only cost 800k to make?).

Wow, actually shocked by the negative vibe I'm getting around here. Though the storyboard sequence might have been a bit low-tech, it gave me the same fuzzy warm feeling Legends 2 did originally - & they even had some of the "elevator music" playing. Am excited to see how the game turns out.
I am a little hesitant to actually toss money at this earlier rather than later since Mighty no.9 went and switched unexpectedly to 3D at some point.....hard to say if this project will turn out "right", but I'm looking forward to it all.
Not sure what to make of the animation idea. Would have been cool to see a Legends movie, and it might be neat to have some kind of "watch the mystery unfold in the anime, solve it in the game" kind of episodic thing, but 2 million for that.......maybe they should just complete the game first.

MN9's English community has kind of been a disaster, sadly. I know many Kickstarter backers (including myself) who never even bothered participating in the official forums after seeing how the "community manager" handled things.
I don't hold that against Comcept, though; the actual dev team hasn't been involved in that fiasco at all, and the beta builds of the game have been fun.
Personally I think this looks pretty cool, although running two simultaneous Kickstarters might not have been a great idea, since fans will effectively be splitting their spending between the two. I still hope they're successful, though.
