I hope this doesn't turn out like Jinsei in which the site was discovered before the simulcast was announced, before it was promptly taken down and Jinsei wasn't officially announced until several months after it had finished airing in Japan.
![]() FUNi really needs to learn one of these days that you shouldn't put the info on the site *UNTIL* the show is officially announced, not matter how well you think it's hidden. Last night I was able to find Chaos Dragon just by typing "Dragon" into the search bar. And considering their biggest franchise is Dragon Ball, just imagine how easily it would be for someone to just stumble upon it by accident. |

*sigh* There goes another spot that's not Ushio & Tora. The last one is most likely going to be Monster Musume, and the big middle panel is probably a Dragon Ball Super announcement. Sorta sad because Chaos Dragon looks like it would appeal more to the CR crowd.

I would not be surprised if due to this screw up Chaos Dragon ends up in crunchyroll, maybe that way Funi will learn for good.

What most likely happened was that the announcement may have been scheduled for tonight/this afternoon and there was some miscommunication and the page went live too early.
It probably won't be anything major and I see no reason why this would hurt a potential similcast. |

However, the Japanese side of business is quite strict about work ethics, so it might've stirred up the waters to some degree. |

Oh i'm aware, I'm just saying they might have already worked out the smilicast stuff and the announcement was coming later today just that a computer issue turned on the site page earlier then planned. I doubt Funi would have said they had 20 shows if they didn't actually have 20 shows completed or nearly completed you know. |

In highly doubt they'll lose the entire title due to something as insignificant as this. It might stream on CR anyway, despite FUNi having it.

Exactly if you lost the rights to a title over something as insignificant as this, maybe those aren't people you wanted to be doing business with in the first place. |

Jeez FUNi, this is hardly the first time you've jumped the gun on something; haven't you learned your lesson yet? Your incompetence knows no bounds.
When you're dealing with industry players in Japan who hold the rights to the shows that you want to license, it's either actually deal with them or lose out. It's not like FUNimation can get a show from someone else other than the production committee in question, so refusing to work with certain companies will quickly reduce your market share. That would mean a big hit in the nether-regions (financially speaking) for you. And besides, all Japanese anime companies are crazy sensitive. Acting petulant at someone because you didn't like their reaction to how you broke a negotiated embargo will put you out of business preeeeety fast in this industry. If an overseas company doesn't want to deal with Japanese people then it shouldn't be in the business of selling anime in the first place. |

This is nothing new and certainly not unique to FUNi in any way. Pretty much all R1 companies have their slip ups. Hell, CR posted a Wooser's season 3 streaming announcement back in March, before removing it about a minute later. http://i.imgur.com/LtWkICh.jpg |

Wouldn't be the first time it's happened. Can't remember which show, but Awhile ago a company pulled streaming rights, because episodes leaked early from their website. If that Tales of the Industry article is any indication, companies take this very seriously. |

The difference is, those were full episodes. This is just an announcement. Odds are they were just holding off to announce it so that they could hype it up at Anime Expo alongside Dragon Ball Super. After all, slapping Urobuchi's name on something (regardless of how minor his involvement is) usually makes the crowd go crazy these days. More than likely the ink is already dry on the contract and FUNi won't suffer any real repercussions. Still, they really should've held off on putting the site up until it was *officially* announced. |

I think this is a consequence of monopolizing this summer's lineup. That is, when you go on a licensing spree, there's a chance that there was a show leak before the licensing was finalized. You'd think Funi would have learned from that One Piece episode leak 6 years ago.

Looks like prep for a later announcement.
You guys are all saying FUNi shouldn't have put the page up until they'd made the announcement, but look at CR's site, there's a bunch of whinging about the fact show pages don't go up immediately and they wait until the first episode is available instead. One site gets criticised for trying to ensure pages are available ASAP, the other site gets criticised for not making them available fast enough. Damned if you do, damned if you don't... |

While this is true, I think that at least in CR's defense, they are not doing a licensing spree as much Funi is this season. I would much rather have a site air an episode within 24 hours from it's Japanese premiere date than a site start streaming it a week after the series premiere. That is, how Funi or CR sometimes does this and airs the first 2 episodes the same day then starts regular simulcasting the following week. Likewise, when you have such a monopoly on streaming licenses, things like this might happen. |
