This anime is such a seminal piece the decision to shell out a few hundred was easy even if I can't read, speak, understand Japanese. If it eventually comes out with English subtitles I guess I'll get that one also but at the rate Evangelion 3.33 is plodding along (PO is at least 1.5 years old already at RightStuf) I suspect I'll be dead from natural causes (I'm 67) when it does release. |
You got 17 years on me. But I understand what you mean. Wondering if I will still be alive when or if, Battle Angel Alita comes out.

Sigh. I wish we could get this over here. And with a new English dub that doesn't include Spike Spencer or Tiffany Grant.
I hear EoE is a licensing nightmare, though.

Man, of all the episodes, it had to be 16. I wonder what happened.

Pretty excited for this because it means all of those EoE DVDs can be trashed, just like with Honeammise. Can't wait to see that film in 1080p.

Is it wrong of me that i only like Eva as a 2 decades old tv show and a finally finished and frankly superior manga series that also had a bunch of good movies out (even 3.33 is watchable) and nothing more? I couldn't care less about more limited disc stets, Girlfriends of Steel that were never in the original script, razors, panties or any of that crap. Does this make me a true fan who are just the silent majority or do i need to buy a dozen hentai doujinshi and twice as many re-releases that can´t make it look better then the dvd remasters. Seriously. How sharp can a limited animation tv show look? I would put this box unopened on Ebay within the day if i happened to win it by some force of nature...
I read the (short) book on Gainax though and that one i can recommend. Put it into the box or the short in which Anno taught a young school class how to animate.
Who lost the original 16mm film print? Lol. Only Gainax.

Damn it. I wanted this so bad, but it's useless to me without subs. It seems like it would be a no brainer to include them given the series popularity

I would buy the shit out of this if it came with subtitles and an English-translated booklet/s, like Aniplex regularly includes with their official imports (even if it costs more through Aniplex/RS than importing directly through Japanese retailers).

Not to mention we never actually got "Rebirth", since Manga just ported the first half of EoE onto the D&R disc in its place.

Whoa, now that's pretty. For a minute I thought they were special ED PS4 with Eva logos. Hey it could happen.

Evangelion TV BD set is going to be released by King Records, so I don't expect subtitle for it. Frankly I'm impressed with bonus materials in discs and the price isn't so bad compared to Japanese LD version I bought in 90's.
If this BD is going to get licensed, then it'll take awhile.
