Yeah, I wasn't watching E3 live but I think the Square-Enix panel showcased the highest number of games I want to buy: a whopping two games, Star Ocean 5 and Just Cause 3 (one of the few action game franchises I care about).

Unfortunately, I don't have a Playstation 4, nor am I anticipating being able to buy one anytime soon, so the existence of new games in these franchises is largely moot to me. Maybe I'll be able to buy them as "Greatest Hits Editions" from the $20 game rack at Walmart in 2019.

same as you.. i don't have a PS4.. but there are games still coming out on the PS3.. plus the backlog of games i have.. don't see the reason to get the PS4 yet

if you want to buy one.. wait until black friday.. they should have good bundles available plus discounted price

as for games.. $20 a game?.. why not just rent them?

gamefly

i'm using gamefly right now--- on average i can rent about 7 games per month

usually keep a game for 3 days to play and send back when i'm done (RPGs will take longer)

renting is another option for gamers on a budget

The playstation now is limited at the moment so gamefly is still my preferred game rental service

Gamefly has 1 out at time, 2 or 3 (after being a member for a few months)

rental fee is reasonable if you are comparing to buying these game individually..

it's something you could consider

Excellent, battle system looks closer to SO3 than 4. Super excited for this, good job square/Sony just pulling one title after another out that I want to buy.

$20 are the bargain racks at Walmart, the new games are like $60+. I don't think $20 is an outrageous amount of money for a game I want to own, although it is the upper end of what I tend to spend on games, since I usually buy old Playstation 2 and Dreamcast games from thrift stores or flea markets.

As for renting, I haven't rented a game since Blockbuster closed in my area (summer 2011). Yeah, I know online rentals exist, but my XBox 360 isn't connected to the Internet and I'm only interested in playing games on physical media.

Unless my financial situation changes drastically, I'm not going to get either a Playstation 4 or an XBox One until the prices are sub-$200.

By the time the prices are sub-$200, the next console generation will already be out. Maybe the smaller hard drive versions will sooner, but they are so small that there would hardly be in point, with all the broken games coming out that need 100GB just for patches.

^ Yeah, I know I may have to wait until the next generation is out to buy the current generation of consoles.

Just like how I may finally get a Playstation 3 later this year just to play Persona 5.

I'll wait for the International/Final Mix version same with KH, I don't get those games on first release anymore, getting it right away may lead to disappointment since it may get rushed and things may get cut out and the International/Final Mix versions have content added or restored.

My theory on Sony paying off companies to not release PS3 versions in the west looks even more true...

Would love the ps3 version. Literally this and Disgaea 5 are the only games I want that are not coming to PC, 100%. FF7 HD probably will and so will FFXV. I don't want to spend 400 dollars +120 for two games. By the time they come out I expect it will be 300+120...but still..I'd be content playing it on PS3...like Japan. -_-.

I also don't think the next console generation will be that soon. I think the next one will probably be the last. This gen already struggling hard from day 1 to keep up with PC and is like 3 laps behind. Next console generation will just be further behind and will only hinder development and innovation more. I give it two more generations tops before things have to change either by making them upgradable, or they'll turn into things like smartphones where you can get a discounted upgrade or something like that lol.

Looks like they gave it a new version of Infinite Undiscovery's battle system.

Blockbuster? i love that place.. i had 3 out at a time (grandfather plans) before they close down

i know the guys there so they will call me when a new game came out..

as for physical media. Gamefly is rental service for physical media.. i don't know if they have a digital version but the games and movies i rented from them are physical

they had been around before most people even know about netflix

Gamefly
Gameznflix (supported by circuitcity back in the day)

there are a lot of other services back in the day -- rentals by mail

now only gamefly remains.. not sure if netflix still do disc rentals

but Gamefly is a physical media rental service ( now they also include movies)

https://www.gamefly.com/#!/

true.. i'll not pay $60 a game either.. but i'm not the type to go out and buy every single game (even at $20).. often i just want to try it or beat it once and return.. so renting is better for me

most games are worth a rental why some will worth the purchase .. so rent or buy will depend on the game and my financial budget.

the subscription fee+ amount of games per month

$24/month for 7-8 games.. is not bad.. about $3-$4 a rental pretty much

plus now a day when there's a flash sale going on on the PS Store.. it's a good time to get some good games at a dirt cheap price!

last time i got

Mass Effect Triology (3 games in 1) for $5 !! .. retail $33 (physical)

3 good games for about the price of a rental.. that's not bad.

it was a $5 flash sale..

^ I'm not currently in a position where I want to commit to paying monthly fees for anything beyond the Internet/phone/cable bundle I have (and I only get the cable because it's bundled with the Internet and phone).

Same reason I don't have Netflix.
