I actually like this (on Crunchyroll):
The depictions of pre-rehab Amagi are a hysterical takeoff on the Tokyo-Disneyland-knockoff market--we've all been to a cheap failed local park taken over into a cheap regional Six Flags in the last fifteen years--and so far, it's got the feel of a good disgruntled-workplace comedy done right. Seiya is still an incredibly insufferable jerk, but I get the impression he's supposed to be. |

Apparently that was Gatoh Shoji's vision for Amagi; author's notes in the light novel say he purposely wanted to write a slice-of-life series focusing on theme park management. I've heard the main plot and the mysteries of Mapleland have been on hiatus for the past few volumes. Shoji also stated a lot of his initial research for the novel came from interviewing an employee "of a world-famous theme park in Japan...the employee could not be named due to privacy reasons"(Strongly hinted this is Disneyland). Bonta-as-Moffle was also intentional; Shoji loved Bonta's design and wanted to reuse it again for Amagi. He notes he was lucky the original character designer let him do so. |

It's pretty much a shame that Amagi Brilliant Park wasn't licensed when it was airing, and it's a pretty good show that could have garnered a bit more of attention from western fans.
But in any case, the concept alone already makes it stand out from the crowd. The fact that the Amagi park actually looks like a damn theme park in decay is also a plus, and as it's usually the case with KyoAni, they put a lot of effort into covering smaller details about park managing, even if this is a fantasy story at its core. So yeah, I really enjoyed this. I'd like to see more of it, but chances of that happening are probably not too good. |

Well he is named for Kanye West (the character used for Sei in his name is the character for West.) Isuzu is given in hiragana but can have an interpretation of "fifty," so Isuzu Sento is 50 Cent. Fun naming sense. |

I thought this was a really funny show, with an interesting and well-executed premise. My main issues were the characters at times and the ending, which felt like kind of an ass-pull. Other than that, it's a really good show. B+ overall, for me.

Not to gush, but you can't really go wrong with this show. There's a lot to enjoy here. spoiler[And surprise surprise, Jouji Nakata voiced an awesome dragon character yet again. What is it with him and dragons anyway?] I love it. XD

Probably should have picked up on this, given the other names. Thanks for the explanation.
Actually, the series does give one bit of foreshadowing about this (back around the beginning of episode 9), so it isn't like it came from nowhere. That's something that I didn't notice until a second viewing of the series, though. |

I believe so. And the fact that it was from KyoAni and the creator of FMP makes that all the more a mystery. If there has ever been an explanation for that, I've missed it.

One of the things I liked about this was the business side of things, and how running a business is quite hard, especially with a deadline like they had. Seiya did a really good job fixing things up in the short amount of time they were given. He should totally make a business out of fixing rundown businesses and giving advice.

I was actually reminded of how Jay Rasulo cleaned up and reawakened the Disney Parks after the hideous abuses and backhanded persecution it got under Michael Eisner and Paul Pressler in the late 90's/early 00's. (California Adventure wasn't Amagi before they rehabbed it, but dang, it was close.) Of course, there's still Meg Crofton, but I put her more in the category of that a-hole villain-exec who wants to buy out the parks. |

And here I thought it was just me thinking "Ugh, I can't hear that guys name without thinking 'Kanye'", and it turns out to be intentional. I really should have caught on with having another character named Latifah, though. AmaBri didn't immediately pull me in but it just got better and better with every episode. And I thought it handled the "side story" episodes brilliantly (no pun intended): the "character of the day" never just disappears into the background. Every new recruit to the park is in subsequent episodes doing their thing, and really adding to the park overall. You can really see, little by little every episode, how each new character brings something new and attractive to the park. The plot was hugely predictable but it became really excited to see HOW the park was going to grow each episode. |

You're welcome. If the author had written it as 五十鈴 (Isuzu, lit. "fifty bells") it would have been more obvious. Maybe that would be too on the nose? Add me to the chorus surprised it didn't get licensed for streaming as aired; I assume it was about money. |

Still seems odd that CR doesn't have ep 13 though. It may not be a story-relevant final episode, but it is still a TV episode, not a "random unaired episode released on DVD/BD Vol #X" episode. Which this show is also getting. |
