The Charlotte hype train seems to be gaining momentum and I'm definitely on-board.

Guess I'll watch this when it eventually finds it's way onto YouTube.

It'll probably be on Kissanime the day the episodes are out but it could be 2 hours - 4 days late

I'm assuming it will be a regular, 20-min. thing, and not like Fate/stay night Unlimited Blade Works' first 2 episodes; #0 & #1, both 45 minutes, sans commercials.

Sounds more like a sneak peak the way it said a studio tour of P.A. Works

Feels like the special is some sort of live action event that introduces a lot of info to the series. I'm not expecting this to be in any sort of FSN format.

Let me guess, they are going to try to convince the viewers that despite a trailer with sub par visuals (by P.A. Works standards) and a premise that was popular 10 years ago, this new anime will be worth it.

Nothing special. Aniplex tries to hype up all their Saturday series. Unfortunately still not interested, a because of genre and b because I've seen how these usually turn out. Design by committee shows made to be popular as opposed to well structured and memorable beyond how they often fall apart at the seams.

So unless you count a big publisher spending extra money on advertising a reason to "get aboard the hype train" there's not much going on here really and it's not going to make the show any better for it just like with Mahouka Kouka no Rettousei and Aldnoah.Zero.

But I think most of the hype comes from the fans of Angel Beats (which is one of the most popular animes) which is created by Key,who is also the creator of Charlotte, and has almost the same staff as Charlotte.

I so hope this will be a 20+ ep series. I mean who doesnt want a 2 cour anime from the creators Key? Anything that comes from them turns into gold. The only thing i dislike about Angel Beats is that is was only 13 ep Razz.

Who do you think picks up this anime? Sentai (ADV) as usual?

Aniplex USA most likely; this is an Aniplex title.

I don't know I saw Angel Beats and thought it was an absolute incoherent mess of recycled ideas that might have maybe at least functioned as a story had it been given a proper episode count so not sure what else to say about it. Obviously a lot of people liked it for their own reasons, but Charlotte would have to be a vast improvement over Angel Beats and get at least a proper 26 episode count to leave any sort of significant impact beyond just hype IMO. It seems pre-destined to be popular and well received in any case just going off the popularity of the Key brand and probably won't even have to be especially good, noteworthy in content, come together well or do anything we haven't seen from Key before (Girls, they're cute and engaging in antics for half of the show and then are dying and/or suffering in the second half due to some tragic twist of fate/plot that one mainly sees coming not necessarily because of foreshadowing but familiarity with the brands storytelling tropes) in order to be successful and a hit.

I don't know, I just haven't had many good experiences with Key as I've mentioned and find their stories kind of derivative and unremarkable if not emotionally manipulative in a way that is unwarranted. I'm not even sure their stories have any sort of good message really either or much to take away from them. The most I've gotten out of the lot of them is cute girls will suffer and then as long as you wish it hard enough magic stuff will happen, time will rewind itself possibly and everything will be okay again. At least that's what I got out of Clannad, which almost had a good message about getting over ones own issues to be a good parent before recycling the same plotline it just had an arc ago and then hitting the reset button for whatever reason. Not cool.

Or an incoherent mess. Sad

Looking forward to Charlotte. I could see it being 12 episodes. the story probably won't be as large as Angel Beats where it needed more (since the cast was triple this size).

They have plenty of great messages and lots to take from their works if you are actually watching. Theme like family, friendship, miracles, life, relationships of mothers, and so on. Not all the endings work out either, just letting you know.

The anime couldn't do the game's replay of events properly and it suffered for it. The "reset" was a huge flaw of the anime. But, there weren't recycled plot lines.

KEY works are only for certain types of people. If you've exhausted your sympathy for the characters in their works after having been familiar with them for a while, just move on. However, if you're like me, and you go to their works because you know what to expect, then there's nothing wrong with liking it.

Angel Beats! is still one of my favorite shows, not because of how coherent as a complete story it was (it wasn't), but because every moment of it was entertaining and/or engaging to me and its messages really affected me. I signed off on being an organ donor because I sympathized with the story so heavily. I still wish KyoAni and KEY worked together, but I'm not against this collaboration and I simply hope it has a similar vibe as Angel Beats. For the most part, Angel Beats suffers from its huge cast and small episode count, but excels in how it utilized such a creative setting for a powerful story.
