Seriously. If they tone down the humour in any way, I will boycott the hell out of it. And I was so hoping that ADV or Del Rey might get it next.  I'm not fond of Titty Tenge, but I thought they would have learned by now not to make the same mistake if they're marketing towards a different demographic than clearly intended by the author and publisher. Either way, though, I'm not buying it twice, and will only start-if uncut-at volume 11.

I have the originals so I don't have to worry. Someone was selling there whole collection of manga at the flea market for 2 each book and everything was in mint condition. I bought every single one of his books so I now have a mega manga collection.

silentchild: If by originals, you mean the Dr. Master versions, there's a lot more than just ten books. (Try 40....)

britannica: Using a FUNimation-style translation would be just as bad as editing it, because it'd ignore the cultural references and nuances of the series.

Oh geez. Here's hoping CMX realizes the audience this time and doesn't censor it for a younger crowd.
I got only a couple of the old Comics One volumes. I was boycotting CMX due to the Tenjo Tenge and my general mistrust of DC. (I love their characters, especially the Bat-verse, but they tend to screw over fans. Yet they own the characters, so what can you do?) I broke that boycott and ordered Gon from CMX Now they have Shin Chan. Unlike Gon, I can see them screwing this up and censoring it. Hopefully, even if they do a bonehead move like that again, they'll tell people before it ships. That whole Tenjo Tenge fiasco reeked of illegal false advertising. How many retailers got stuck with that first volume once fans realize it wasn't what they were told it was? |
