so wait... what is this a director's cut of exactly? is it just a compilation of cuts from various parts of the series? i'm confused.

Interesting. I thought it would be an expansion on the ending, not the beginning. From the description, there is a very real possibility that this might suck. I mean, Ryuk is a SIDE CHARACTER. Side characters are on the sidelines for a reason.
I hope it's good though. |

Ohh, that will be long...in the worst case scenario (12 volumes) to finish the serie it will not be before december 2008... |

Like in North America, certain programs in Japan do not start exactly at the top or bottom of the hour. For example, Bleach regularly starts at 7:26 p.m., and Naruto Shippūden ends early at 7:57 p.m. Sometimes, the previous show has an extended timeslot, forcing the next show to start later. Other times, a station will add a special short before the main show. In still other times, a station will prop up the ratings of one show by extending the airtime of the show before it, which making it harder for the audience to change channels. |

I've already read the entire manga series(all 12 volumes) will this special add any value to the series? If it does I'd be more tempted to watch it. But also I think that it would be interesting to hear Ryuks thoughts, hopefully it just not going to be Ryuk saying he has an apple craving every freaking minute.

It sounds like an improvement to me. I lost all interest in the series halfway through, when spoiler[L died]. This is an interesting idea and I think it could be really interesting to get something from Ryuk's view. I completely disagree that he's a side character because he would be boring otherwise. I often think side characters are MORE interesting than main ones. |

Maybe they wil include the scenes that were cut out (Various conversations between Near and Aizawa and the first assault on Mello's headquarters, the epilouge).
