I have better things to do than watch anime on New Year's Eve anyway. Like watching anime. But I gotta catch the new ATHF, Sealab, and Harver Birdman.

(surprise, Vekou!)
I, too, would like to know what was meant by that last little blurb.

*shrugs* I'd rather be out, being social and talking and stuff, that or just going to bed. It's the end of the year, not the end of the world, so I'm not bothered.

Anime fans have an image of being nothing but a bunch of geeks who would stay home alone on New Year's Eve watching Anime.
Not that I mean to imply that anyone and everyone who stays home alone on New Year's Eve is a loser of some sort, and at the same time, there certainly are some very socially inept people amongst anime fans. They're a part of any population, they're a part of *the* population, and therefore a part of anime fandom as well.
But most anime fans are fairly regular people who will have something to do on New Years Eve (In some cases sit at home with a few friends or their significat others watching Anime) and in one short, sarcastic comment I meant to take a jab at the false sterotype.
The reason I decided to do that, was that I was certain that someone would read the new article "Adult Swim will be featuring a New Years eve special, running from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m, that will not feature any anime" and think "Oh, figures thsi would be something worth noting on an anime news site since its readers will have nothing better to do on New Years Eve." I'm certain that there are anime fans that think they're the only cool person in fandom that gets out on Saturday night... I've met a few of these people myself and AFAIC they're bigger losers than soeone who might stay home watching Anime every saturday night.

It means that unlike fans of the Brak show, anime fans are out partying.

How many anime have New Year's Specials anyway? All shows on that day will be holiday themed.

Tempest: I thought it was quite amusing. Sarcasm, it's a wonderful thing. Actually, anime on New Years hadn't even crossed my mind.

Now this is unfair. Most New Year's parties I've gone to have at least one television on the entire time. Why get slopping with Adult Swim on the one night there's TONS of potential audience members actually awake late enough to watch it (and hey, if they're smashed enough they might even become rabid anime fans overnight! In any case, anime can take on a whole new meaning when your brain's on the fritz.) Heck, I'd rather watch Ein at midnight than that wretched ball in Central Park.
Oh well, maybe this is too much for CN to handle, seeing as anime is only a small portion of their lineup... they'll leave the anime celebrations to the "real" anime network...
