Though I think this deserves a C-. Your final say in opinion on its promise did'nt seem to reflect your score. I was thinking you were going to give it a B+, or hell an A from saying that. But IMO, its just another harem with an annoying loli and sister fetish concept. While the characters design is pretty nice all because of its(That is his gender since he fills in for the viewer even with a inplausible backstory) scars, it can already give away what this character is. Plus I read some volumes of the manga, and that 1st episode(where she wakes him up) seemed way more uncomfortable than anything the 2nd episode ever did.

Though I respect your score slightly, I just dont want another DxD hypetrain over shlock like this and DxD itself.

If you don't like the fan service, get off the train now because the fan service will just get even extreme from now. Not as the level of Yosuga no Sora but definitely more extreme than Highschool DxD. There is definitely a story somewhere. I was intrigued by this manga but the chapters are non-existent and there are no translation for the LN so it left me in the dark pretty much so I wanted to check it out.

And definently not as honest or fun as Highschool of the Dead.

^ Honestly speaking, Highschool of the Dead has a really bad fan service imo. They just gets in the middle of the action which is not a good thing to do. Then the show is horrific-ly bad. Writing is all just jumbled up badly with badly execution and pacing. Then there's the wasted potential of being the only serious Zombie anime there was.

So you are basically here to instruct the reviewer use this column to drive away all readers from this anime series since it is not of your specific liking. You seem to overestimate your clout by several degrees.

From my point of view the review is sincere and balanced.

I also think that the steam and white bars are kind of awkward, am I the only one thinking "oh no, she is going to get naked" since we can see more of her curves when she is fully clothed. I suppose it is an incentive for the people in japan to buy the discs, so there is no way around it.

This show is TRASH
Like, legitimately so. {Deleted for insulting others who might have the temerity to like the show in its entirety or in parts. --nbahn}

Its not funny, the fanservice is neither exceptional nor emotionally rewarding, and some of it seriously seems like it came out of a battle-harem LN cookbook for dummies. I'm still baffled as to who thought cramming the OP sequence (which makes it blatant that the MC has some kind of obligatory fighting power) right before the actual reveal of his fancy sword hand was an acceptable idea.

This show makes Highschool DxD look like a goddamn celebrated piece of fine literature in comparison, and all I can see people picking it up for is the borderline pornographic LN art.

Absolute Duo must be the anime Antichrist if this is somehow better

I actually went ahead and watched episode 2, and my evaluation pretty much mirrors Rebecca's. I think at this point I'd watch the show just for Maria and the crap she tries to pull, but I also like how they have handled the male lead so far - and I can rarely say that about harem series.

Still not expecting much from this one, but it could actually be a decent mid-week diversion. (All of the stuff I consider priority views this season seems to be on the weekends. . .)

So obvioulsy this and DxD get a pass or better yet, praise? With their oh so exquisite ciniaphotogrophy in the 2nd episode when our main character who blushes over a trivial thought of having a sister tells us in paraphrase, "My father and I will protect you." while the camera cuts and slowly pans on her bombacious breasts. In a sincere and suposedly emotional scene that we actually need to emit emotion about. Oh, and a loli succubus is in the house. Or when our main protagonist in DxD. Whom his only concern is to be a king with a plethoral of women to be his objects. And no interation with mashocists or loli nuns flashing their junk is going to change that.

Action is entertainment. Just like fanservice, they mix fine. actual sincere character interaction or development does not. The plot in H.O.T.D does'nt fool you in what you are getting from just a glance at the box. It may in its 1st episode, but they still throw the goody echii at you step by step except for the last minutes of the episode that is executed very well for the genere is doing. The other shows however toss in a inconsistent and poorly explored plot trying to make the show more serious than it already is. Or make us feel emotional for cardboard characters. H.O.T.D does this to, but so minimally when they are following a checklist of tropes that we see in shows like the Walking Dead while expanding on a summer blockbuster style. Its silly to call me a hypocrite on this when you plan to argue since we are just comparing a bunch of turds to see which one is the golden turd. H.O.T.D. is the most honest that it wants the be the shiniest turd of them all.

When did I say that? They can watch this turd all they want along with their DxD's, but to call them good echii harems is a severe overstatement when H.O.T.D. is up at the top of the hill of crap with scantily clad women poo wrestling IMO.

High School of the dead may be the most honest with being crap but it's still crap.

Fanservice and emotion can go together well, you just need to actually put effort into the designs and writing of the characters instead of just cardboard cutouts.

I've said it many times before and I will say it again, if I don't care about your characters, I don't give a damn about the "will they, won't they" that harems revolve around.

I can already anticipate Theorn telling me that to have both would be cross purpose and I can understand that. I just wish that harem shows actually try to be serious instead of making a trope fest to rake in cheap money but at this point, that's like looking for a genie: impossible.

When in 2 of my paragraphs did I said that the fan service in DxD and Testament of Sister New Devil deserved praise? In fact, DxD has its fault of having nipples show during action scenes during the first season. Then the second season was full of fan service. On the other hand, I have seen only 2 episodes of The Testament so what the hell do I base on to judge it? I haven't had a clue of how the story is going or how they will animate the fighting scenes so nothing can be judge till then. But compared to DxD to HOTD is like comparing fresh eggs to rotten eggs. DxD actually managed to pull a story from their cluster hell filled with fan service and actually delivered a decent storyline for a show of its genre. Meanwhile HOTD had so much problems with the story that not even the Japanese themselves were interested enough for the manga and anime to continue. In 12 episodes and what did I see? A FREAKING HUGE potential plot thrown down the waste bin to put in some cheap animated boobs groping/bouncing and panties floating around that looks so bad like a hentai company made it. So until I've seen enough Testament of the Sister New Devil to pass on a judgment which usually is 3 episodes, I will hold my comparison to HOTD on a later date. But DxD and HOTD, the one with an ACTUAL story won hand down.
PS. When did I called you a hypocrite? I was just giving my honest opinion on HOTD, don't have to be all that dude.

Then what's the point restating what I'm saying? It's the best crap.

And showing moving tit's just by breathing because not only they look nice but she actually is a developed character doesn't make an effective soap opera. That makes Rondo minus infinity.

When you said that Sister New Devil has a good story in it. And now DxD lol

Yeeeessssssssss, the wise anime community always wanted a Bacanno/Hellsing with boobs and loli ass. Thats also crapier than Bacanno itself.

Whats problematic on going from A to B with danger along the way with women supermodels along the way? When DxD goes from chick fantasy Ass to Bossum with a plot to trick you that you are watching a wasted show in drama. There is no reasonable point for the conflict with the sexy vamps/demons. EVERYBODY ORGY!

That concept sounds alot like DxD and Sister New Devil. IM GETTING THROUGH Razz Hell, the D male character wants to be a horny king while the Sister fetish character was groping her sister in law who came 9 times. For, "reasons." Thank you loli succubus. Rolling Eyes

EXACTLEY!!! Talk about a hypocritical cock tease. Yet she works with a loli succubus. She would not have situations like this if she got a male inccubus, hell she would have more fun Laughing

The major issues I had with the first episode (haven't watched the second one yet) was inconsistent character designs. I felt like the style was changing from shot to shot in places.

The second that red-headed sister is supposed to be in MIDDLE SCHOOL (please stop doing this, Japan).

The third is that, no matter how well endowed she is, boobs don't work like that. They draw her in a peasant-style top but it looks like she puts her breasts into slots so the shirt will hug her that way.

I did notice the scars on both the lead and the dad in the first scene but I just figured they were in some kind of horrible car accident or something.

Other issues include convenient hand-waving (Dad knew about the girls the whole time, played along for no particular reason by "leaving," when he knew they were in danger, and didn't inform his son.) and inconsistent characterization ("I'm going to deliberately give you fanservice, rub up and down on your morning wood, but then get really pissy when you fall on me in an obviously accidental manner"). Like, that trope is old as sin, but either pick the "overly suggestive little sister that wants in your pants" personality trope or the "overly aggressive at any sign of sexuality regardless of intent" personality trope. You can't do both, they clash.

This one is so endemic (even in non-ecchi/harem anime) that long ago I have stopped paying attention to what grade they are supposed to be in. I think I stopped paying attention even before since some series had childish high school students (as in, all of them) and some series have very mature down to earth middle school students.

But this trend is nothing new, long before we were born comics have portrayed males as bodybuilders, Stan Lee had difficulties in making spider man look more like an average human (and lost the battle on the long run).

So the simple truth is that this trend is not going away anytime soon.

First off, this show is based on an LN series written by the same author that wrote Hagure Yūsha no Aesthetica, so take that as an indication of where this show is headed.

Secondly, having read the manga version, I know there are some big battles coming (in a show tagged with Action, Ecchi, Supernatural, Shōnen? Shocker), so maybe Production IMS is putting the earlier episodes on "a smaller flame," with the battle scenes serving as the show's "main dish" of the animation.

first lets be honest here these are fictional characters what is fictional stays fictional so treating like they actually are real will make people question if you can tell the difference between reality and fantasy. second they are not middle schoolers they are high school students. lastly no matter how raunchy and dirty people may think this anime is it actually has a good story for a harem series or atleast i can say the manga and light novel have a good story can't say how well it will be done in anime form since its not done yet. this comment is not being told to a specific person it is mostly meaning in general. also keep in mind this is a seinen series meaning its target audience is 18 and older so expect normal to heavy fan service.
