Well well, on eve of Anime Expo we have Tokyopop confirm 30 titles and ADV now spills the bean about XenoSaga. I am somewhat tempted by this series seeing as how I enjoyed the games a lot. Hopefully it will live up to my expectation, looking at the rating it looks like it fairly average or slightly above average.

I didn't particularly like this series (I found it to be quite boring), but then again I haven't played the games. I've gotta admit that even for an android, KOS-MOS is quite sexy though. Other than her, the series really didn't do much of anything for me. Perhaps I'll give Xenosaga another shot in English though since ADV is dubbing it. I really enjoy ADV's dubs for the most part.

Heh, "exclusive". Rumors have been going on for a little while now, and the first volume just recently showed up in Diamond Previews (reported on AoD last Thursday). This is just making it official now, I guess, though being in Previews seems to be pretty legitimate already.
I enjoyed the Xenosaga anime...well, more or less. The game wasn't exactly my cup of tea but I liked the story much more than the gameplay, which translates well as far as preferring the anime as you would expect. Certainly with only 12 episodes it could not go into anywhere near the depth of story you get while playing the game, but it hits the high points and ties it together okay. Obviously it'd be nice if there were more to it, such as more characterization and certainly more backstory. Don't get me wrong though, it is decent, but by no means would I put it in any list of upper tier titles. I think I may end up buying it, but I guess I'm on the fence right now.
I really love the ending theme, though, very pretty.

Makes you wonder how ADV is going to handle the English dub. I seriously enjoyed the dub in the games like Crispan Freeman's Albedo and ESPECIALLY Bridget Hoffman's role of KOS-MOS (seriously, that is the first time I heard her voice without using that "Miaka" voice; she really has a deep range).

I absolutely loved the games (yes, because of the complex story) but hated the anime to the point of barely making it through the first episode. I then stuck it on the "Will Not Finish" list. The thing is though, I really can't remember exactly what it was I disliked. It probably had to do with that complex story being watered-down (or maybe just crappy fan-sub dialogue), but I'm not sure. So, I guess I'll have to give it another try when the R1 comes out.
And, why the hell is Firefox flagging "dialogue?" Kids, don't rely on pslel hceksc.

I love the Xenosaga story, and I love the gameplay of Volumes 1 and 3, but this anime is... well... lackluster. It's hard to take such a deep and intricate story and make it boring, but they managed! I don't know how! The last three episodes provide a good alternate ending to the anime, but the first 9 episodes should be avoided at all costs.

I'm glad its getting released. I've been looking forward to this.
Yeah, the anime isn't that good. But its Xenosaga and I liked it.
Hopefully they'll keep the VA from the games...

Which game though?
Granted the new dub voices on a couple characters (like Shion and KOS-MOS) for episode 2 were absolutely terrible.

Hehe, of course from Episode 1 & Episode 3.
Well at for Shion & KOS-MOS. MOMO & chaos can have their new VA they are fine by me.
but getting the ones from Episode 1 would be best IMO.

I wonder why on earth ADV are bothering with this one. Between the fact that it's a load of crap anyway and the voice acting debarticle...

I love the games, especially the original, but absolutely hated the anime. Some parts were bearable I guess, but I didn't really appreciate the liberties they took with the story and characters. Call me a purist if you want, but I thoroughly enjoyed the game much more.

There is a lot of game to anime these days. Wonder if this would be better than a lot that are out there.

I think most of us who like Xenosaga likes the games more than the anime.
The games are a lot better. The anime is worth watching IMO.
And if people like it buy the games.

I think that's true. It's pretty much whatever the person experienced first, which is most likely the game for some.
I dunno maybe 13 episodes was too short, but it just didn't work for me, I know I was really excited when I found out there was an anime version after playing Episode I. Maybe I had too high expectations and ruined it for myself.
I think we can agree on which game ruled all: Xenogears!
