Devil May Cry

Well, as far as I can see, no one made a topic about Devil May Cry anime so I made one. I've seen the trailer and an episode and it was pretty good! Though I didn't fully understand it because I've watched the RAW version, it was pretty good, the animation is awesome (though so far, I still prefer the game.. =P ). I played the game and the only reason I wanna watch the anime is the ACTION. I didn't like the plot in the game very much.. lol Well, we'll see on how they did the plot on the anime.

Yeah, I just posted about this in the anime thread, actually (I can't seem to find Delta's topic...):

Quote:
Oh, holy hell…

I just sat through the raw for episode 1 of Devil May Cry.

Duck: I don’t know what the hell people told you, but the first episode was one of the most stylish piece of TV anime I’ve ever seen; I thought that the gun-slinging stuff in Black Lagoon was pretty good, but I’ll be damned if this doesn’t measure up.

There was this one beautiful sequence where Dante walks into a theatre and they use the lighting and the stage backdrops (and shadows) to enhance the feel of the sequence; it was brilliant.

Most startling of all, however, is how damn high quality the animation is… there’s so much depth in the detail, lighting and movement that it’s really hard to imagine this being a TV series…

In any case, I seriously DOUBT that they can maintain this level of quality with the visuals… I’d be impressed if they managed to lock it in close to this, but this has got to drop significantly after a couple of episodes or so… I can’t be realistic otherwise.

But yeah… this is all AFTER Madhouse was doing their thing with Denno Coil (but that’s special since it has one of Japan’s top key animators at the head of it).

Seriously… the damn show rocks my socks with its visuals.

The actual show seems nice too… from the little I could make out, it seems to be about this little girl named Patty and how one of Dante’s assignments is to escort her somewhere (and for some reason)… but like, people (demons) are trying to kill her and Dante has to kick some ass in order to protect her; Dante himself is REALLY cool… but I found it funny that he seems to be a big fan of Strawberry Sundae’s despite his overwhelming badass-ness.

Wow…

I don’t know what else to say.

If you need to get an idea of how awesome this is, picture this:

After slaying this big monster thing with his sword, Dante whips the sword around to wipe the blood off... but when he does, there's like a barrage of blood that hits the wall.

Badass.

Oh yeah, might I add that I enjoy the fact that it seems like Patty has forced her way into Dante’s life, despite the fact that she seems to be a vulnerable little girl; why do I get the feeling that she’s going to be the one wearing the pants in this relationship as the show goes on? Anyway, it’s amusing.

But yeah... it's REALLY good... it was everything that I thought it would be, so I'm all set.

But yes, I'm interested in finding out what the actual plot is...

I also think that Patty is a really cute character, so that's a plus.

Anyway... subbed version can't come soon enough...

Was it even episode 1? Because it says here that it's going to be on June 14th, even on wikipedia.. Wink But while I was searching for the latest anime torrents, I saw Devil May Cry ep1.. I thought it was some prank so I checked it out, and so yeah.. I guess other anime network broadcast it earlier... lol

Off-topic: They spelled Character incorrectly in the site http://dmc-tv.com/ .. Anime hyper

"Charactor"

But yeah, I heard they streamed episode 1 early (before its airing on WOWOW), so this is how we're talking about it now, I guess.

to be perfectly honest, i wasn't into it at all. in my personal opinion, the first episode was really disappointing. the main complaint i have is how slow it was. for a show based on Devil May Cry of all things, there was a lot of dialog. my other complaint is the annoying little girl sidekick, she really got on my nerves. also the action scenes were very lacking by Madhouse standards, almost felt thrown together. i will admit spoiler[the fight on stage] was cool though... for the whole minute it lasted.

all in all, it could have been A LOT better. i have confidence it will get better in the coming episodes, as Madhouse hasn't let me down yet.

I'm really looking forward to this one. This is one of the games I've played that I always thought would make a good anime. Now we just need Ninja Gaiden... a new series, not that random old one.

This looks so good, i can't wait. I played the games and enjoyed them very much. Although with each sequal the game became insanely difficult.

And no this isn't a window of opertunity for someone to come on here and start braging about beating DMC3.

Lets just hope that Capcom doesn't decide to put like a secret password on the DVD to even watch it.

Man, this wasn't all that great. Most of the action wasn't on screen or was way too short. This did a great job of making Dante seem like the badass he is, like in the cutscenes of the games, but besides that, fighting got boring, and since it was raw and I could barely get most of anything, I don't know why the girl was there with him and I don't like how the demons are disquised like humans.

Whoa... you need to tell me what you're watching if the action here somehow came across as disappointing (even if it's in the context of Madhouse shows, I've seen a lot of them, and I'm a little hard-pressed to find stuff that's better)...

Because, I can honestly say that I haven't seen very many shows with this level of detail with its gunslinging and gore.

(but then, I haven't seen a lot of shows, so this might be the problem)

But then, a lot of the stuff is short... but it's not like you can max out the detail if it got dragged out (and dragging it out doesn't necessarily make it better either).

Also, I haven't really played the hell out of DMC, but I was under the impression that 2 was a helluva lot easier than one (all you had to do was circle around enemies and stuff).

But then, I didn't play all of it, so I don't know.

Now 3, I hear, was a bitch.

I actually don't think I have a topic started on Devil May Cry....I have one for just about everything else this season, but not DMC seeing as how I am still waiting for subs seeing as how my Japanese skills are non-existent. In fact I know more German and Spanish then Japanese, and I couldn't tell ya a single Kanji, I am just like Asuka from EVA.

That little girl is spoiler[the only survivor in an Akuma Raid or something like that, and she's rich.. And so they hired Dante as her bodyguard.] Well, as far as I can see, it's different from the game's storyline. But I think they're gonna follow the game's storyline, but if they don't, they better make up something better..

Just one question I have to ask: Is there really only 12 episodes?

They're probably not because I don't think they can show all of "that."

I can't wait to see Dante and his Infinite Devil mode. I really enjoyed the games and hope that the anime will be good as the game.

I watched the first episode earlier today...I must say, I'm underwhelmed. It seems like it's trying too hard to be cool. The plot seems...thin, to say the least...that is to say, thinner than the original game, which is saying something.

I'll keep watching, though. I love the DMC games.

What did everyone else think?

I really liked the detail in the animation; it's ridiculous how much detail there is in the art and animation...

And I still think that the opera stage sequence was one of the most gorgeous over-the-top action scenes I've ever seen for an anime.

Anyway, I'm a little worried that the charm I saw in the first episode will be lost when they start bringing out enemies that aren't the little pissant ones like in the first episode; dragging it out might lead to less... detail... or something...

But yeah, who knows?

I watched the first Episode just now and was totally blown away with all the red. It's the most I seen ever since Elfen Lied. Everything was done pretty well but could be better. I'm probably guessing that Patty Lowell will just be another one of those comic relief characters. There wasn't as much as I hoped in episode one. The theatre scene with the backdrop that you can see the silhouet of all the action was alright I guess. Wish they showed a little more sword action, it was all just this gunslinging. I just hope it doesn't go like that the whole series. Now I can't wait for episode 2 to air~!
