- Nothing has been announced at this time in terms of a actual sequel.
- Judging by the horrible reception GSD recieved it looks highly unlikely. - There are a series of compilation movies, but they are just a combination of the series itself, with some slight modifications and additions. -This doesnt belong in the talkback section, it is only for discussing stuff in the ANN news or columns or reviews. It should be in the Anime section. - For questions like this, try Google or Wikipedia. |

Yes, there has. However, details are sparse. The only things we know so far are that: -a Gundam SEED theatrical film is in the works, -it is due out either in late 2007 or early.mid 2008, and -Houko Kuwashima (voice actress for Fllay, Natarle, and Stella) has been contacted to record new dialogue. All of this has been reported on Gunota, and that's about as good a source on English-language Gundam news as you'll ever get, so it's pretty trustworthy. Beyond that, though, anything else is speculation and rumor at this point. But a movie is confirmed, and is happening. And before anyone mentions it, the newly-announced Mobile Suit Gundam 00 TV series is in its own timeline (AD2307, at that), and has nothing to do with Gundam SEED or the Cosmic Era timeline. Still, this isn't the right place to discuss this, so I'm moving this thread to the Anime forum. |

I'm pretty sure Bandai/Sunrise could care less about the reception GSD recieved after the amount of dvds, cd singles and models it sold. Going by your logic we would never have had a Pirates 3. (ignoring that they were mostly filmed at the same time) Also correct me if I'm wrong but since Double Zeta the only gundam series to outrate Destiny was the first SEED series. |

LoL Wikipedia is your friend:
"Currently in production, this unnamed theatrical entry of the Gundam SEED anime series will be set in C.E. 74, one year after the most recent series Gundam SEED Destiny. It will be the first full-length film (not a compilation movie) within the Gundam metaseries since Mobile Suit Gundam F91 (1991). "Little information exists, although there is a brief teaser trailer featuring the characters Kira Yamato, Shinn Asuka, Athrun Zala, Cagalli Yula Athha and Lacus Clyne. Hoko Kuwashima, voice actor of character Stella Loussier has also stated on her "SEED Club blog" that the character will somehow also have a role in the film, presumably in flashback scenes. Lacus, Yzak Joule, and Dearka Elsman will return as members of the PLANT Supreme Council and Kira, Athrun, Shinn, and Lunamaria Hawke would be part of ZAFT military." * Director - Mitsuo Fukuda * Original creators - Hajime Yatate and Yoshiyuki Tomino * Production - Sunrise
Wait, are you saying that since ZZ Gundam came out in 1986, Gundam SEED has been the highest rated Gundam? Ever heard of Char's Counterattack, 0080: War in the Pocket, F91, 0083: Stardust Memory, Victory Gundam, G Gundam, 08th MS Team, or ∀ Gundam, just to name a few? Actually, Gundam SEED and SEED Destiny are generally considered some of the worst of Gundam. |

Not when it comes to Gundam, dude. The amount of misinformation about Gundam that's spread about on Wikipedia is mind-boggling, and unless there's a reliable source that they link to, you're better off taking everything Gundam-related on Wikipedia as absolute, basless rumor.
Which were far from horrible. In fact, they were unfortunately rather high for a Gundam series. |

Huh, thats interesting. I hadnt heard anything or seen anything in the ANN news that I recall (plus It seemed unlikely). I wiki'd it to be sure and and only found info on the compilation movies.
Well Idunno about that. I never heard that much negativity towards Pirates 2. All I can say is Destiny is the single most bashed, complained about, discredited, etc Anime that I've seen in my time as an Anime fan. |

When most people talking about ratings it's usually in regards to tv ratings... and considering what I typed before the sentance you quoted it should've been bleedingly obvious it wasn't critical ratings I was talking about....
Pirates 2 and 3 have been blasted by the majority of reviewers. |

Which, I think, is what he said. It looks to me like he was saying that only SEED and ZZ had higher ratings than Destiny. |

Why Double Zeta then? Where is he even getting this info, or is he just pulling it out of his butt? |

Yes I pulled it out of my butt, look around instead of being an ignorant asshole for once in your life. There's a website called google, now go to that and type in "Gundam Japanese tv ratings". Hey presto look what comes up! http://aeug.blogspot.com/2004_11_01_archive.html Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam Highest rating: 11.7% Average rating: 6.6% Mobile Suit Gundam Double Zeta Highest rating: 8.6% Average rating: 6.1% Mobile Suit V Gundam Highest rating: 5.3% Lowest rating: 2.4% Average rating: 3.9% Mobile Fighter G Gundam Highest rating: 7.3% Lowest rating: 1.7% Average rating: 4.1% New Mobile Report Gundam Wing Highest rating: 6.8% Lowest rating: 1.8% Average rating: 4.3% After War Gundam X (Note: Gundam X episodes 1 - 26 aired Fridays at 5 pm while the remainder of the series aired on Saturdays at 6 am) Highest rating: (all eps) 6.2% (eps 1 - 26) 6.2% (eps 27 - 39) 1.7% Lowest rating: (all eps) 0.6% (eps 1 - 26) 1.8% (eps 27 - 39) 0.6% Average rating: (all eps) 2.8% (eps 1 - 26) 3.5% (eps 27 - 39) 1.2% Turn A Gundam Highest rating: 4.1% Lowest rating: 1.7% Average rating: 3.0% Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Highest rating: 8.0% Lowest rating: 4.6% Average rating: 6.1% SD Gundam Force Highest rating: 3.2% Lowest rating: 1.0% Average rating: 2.1% Mobile Suit Gundam SEED DESTINY Highest rating: 8.2% Lowest rating: 3.9% Average rating: 5.4% Looks like i did remember correctly, looks like you don't know how to use a search engine. |

okay maybe. Idunno, I put very little stock in movie reviews so I rarely read em. In terms of actual watchers reactions though, I haven't heard much negativity towards it. Same goes for destiny. If anything the fan reactions have seemed mostly worse than what I've read in reviews. And keep in mind, something is still usually considered a success if lots of people still see it and like it. Regardless of what reviews say.
its not like you said "highest rated according to Japanese TV ratings" so explain to me why exatly it is that were all idiots for not thinking to search "Gundam Japanese tv ratings"? |

These numbers are all a bit higher than the ones printed in the excellent book Gundam for Adults that was released in 2004. According to that data Seed is second to only Zeta. I will tend to trust the data from this book which also has a ton of sales figures, and international info over anything on the net. You can find the breakdown here from an old post, since I don't feel like typing the whole thing up again. animenewsnetwork.com/bbs/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=19263&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=45
The book also took a large poll which summed up that the largest demographic of fans for Seed is the 35-39 year olds. Oddly enough many of us 1979 fanss seem to enjoy Seed. |

So you agree Destiny is a success than? Or Does a few top 5 cd singles and a million + dvd sales not count as people liking it. And btw it's not just reviewers who slammed the pirate sequels, take a look around the net and the majoirty of threads discussing them will slam them. General Opinion is, 1 = dope, 2 = crap, 3 = slightly less crap.
When you quoted me it should've been obvious even to the biggest moron that we were talking about tv ratings. |
