After a new season of SAO started it was only a question of time Kirito back to the top of Popularity Polls.
After all SAO is the nº1 Light Novel in Japan last year and going strong this year. The hate for SAO comes mostly because of Fairy Dance Arc and honestly it is the most weak of all the Arcs. For the people that hated Fairy Dance i can only tell the story after that only gets better and better. This new season (Phantom Bullet) is one of favorite arcs. Give this series a chance and you will be surprised how good it become and why is the nº1 LN in Japan. |

Eh, newer stuff tends to rank higher for a while and then drop off, and I'm sure the polling finished before the first ep of SAO II (though if SAO II only covers GGO, it probably won't do much for Asuna's popularity). Have to wait a while to judge Mahouka's staying power. Personally, I'm shocked there was a popularity poll and Misaka Mikoto wasn't present at all. She has swept #1 female LN character for like 5 years or something. |

Not really, the first arc is pretty crappy as well. I really don't take these lists seriously anymore when characters like Kirito get voted 1st just for being in SAO and not that he's well written character or anything. |

you know, i was a bit skeptical when i saw Kirito and Tatsuya as the top two, but when i noticed Kira as well that's when i knew this poll was trolled hard

I might be out of line for asking this, or maybe asking it in a wrong way but..
Is Kirito popular due to being a wish fulfillment character or is it due to the fans actually liking SAO? I haven't read the novels and hear they're good, but I'm going off just the impression I get from the anime and all the talk about it on boards I see. |
