All things considered, this is pretty good for an online premiere. Let's hope the numbers get only higher from here!

Was it ever explained why the characters names end with "no"? or was Mrs. Togashi just having fun with the naming?

I believe "no" is just a frequent female name termination. The author just chose names with that termination.

In Japanese の is a partial marker meaning "belonging to" while it is not in the written name as kanji is used, it's a pun. 月野うさぎ tsuki no usagi means rabbit of the moon. All the characters names have to do with their respective elements.

No is a common ending of Japanese family names, and they serve as puns, as "no" is also a particle meaning "of." Therefore, Rei's name can literally mean, "Spirit of Fire," while Usagi's name can mean "Rabbit of the Moon."

Think of no as translated 's (apostrophe-s).

Tsukino Usagi (written Japanese style, last-name first-name)

Tsuki (Moon) no ('s) Usagi (Rabbit)

Moon's Rabbit, or Rabbit of the Moon

It's basically a bunch of 's / of in the other name meanings.

Tsukino Usagi - Rabbit of the Moon
Mizuno Ami - Beauty/Friend of Water
Hino Rei - Spirit/Beauty of Fire
Kino Makoto - Sincerity of Wood
Aino Minako - Beautiful Child of Love

But don't ever name your kid Water Child - 水子 (Mizuko).

I've always seen Makoto Kino translated closer to Wisdom of Forest.

And we're already up to bubble girl? Usagi's going to have to get mildly improved moderately quickly at this rate.

Got to admit, it saves on character development. And it also makes the whole first episode of "Meet Usagi, Mamoru and the rest of the cast no one cares about" all the worse. If they were going to do that, they should have just made a double episode.

I miss Junichi Sato. 1 million views? What are they watching for, to see what they'll do different or if they can do it better? This isn't FMA Brotherhood and the fact that thanks to CG animation it can look more like the manga {I admit I flipped through it, didn't like it even for shoujo} doesn't mean they'll improve on the story.

On the contrary, oh wow, on the contrary...

I'm sure it's an easy million just because it's a very interesting subject: New Sailor Moon, check this shiz out! I'll be more interested to see where the numbers are later on, once the novelty has worn off and thoughts of delays and hype have long since faded. Then we'll be in the biweekly pattern for an entire year.

If we want to be absolutely linguistic about it (because simply translating it as a particle that indicates possession is actually pretty misleading), all that the の truly means in "A の B" is "B in relation to A". Context fills in the actual relationship of the description nominal to the subject. "Tsuki no usagi" is not so much "the moon's rabbit" or "rabbit of the moon" as it is "rabbit on/from the moon" or maybe even just "moon rabbit." Likewise, "mizu no ami" is "water Asian beauty" or "Asian beauty of the/who uses the water element.

The show was listed as the most popular episode of anything on Hulu during the weekend. Ahead of America's Got Talent, Hell's Kitchen, and other network TV shows.

That is amazing.
