Why is L allowed to be emo, but not Spider Man?

Good question. Maybe it's because when Parker's emo he also gets cocky and just plain arrogant, while L is just the yoga-sitting, snack loving, top-notch sleuth he always was.
Or so I suppose...

lol Well, that's a tricky subject, I think. Perhaps it's because L was originally portrayed (in my opinion) as a kind of eccentric, dark, bizarre genius, borderline anti-social individual, whereas Peter Parker (aka Spiderman) was more of a nerdy-guy-turned-crime-fighting-superhero. And while I can understand why the latter would be entitled to have some "emo" side of himself break through, he doesn't really emanate that sense of "closed off" or "potentially much more under the surface" ...at least in my observations of the two (though I've yet to see the 3rd Spiderman movie so I can't say with 100% divinity).

It makes a little more sense for L, but as for Peter.....it was so badly forced. But forget death note, I am more interested in the Appleseed Sequel then I am a Death note spin off.

Didn't Spiderman 3 do very well in Japan? I would say the Japanese are okay with an emo Spider Man.

I'm down for some 'L' though would I be required to watch the movies first?
But I'm definitely down for the new 'Appleseed' movie. Finally picked up the Sp ED tin. Now my 'Shirow Masamune' collection is complete. That is until more stuff comes out.

it seems to be more of the same, in that it doesn't match the manga, which was one of the best around, from one of the best mangaka to ever grace this small blue planet. Rather, it seems it's going to be another cartoony-looking CGI Matrix ripoff like the last movie...sigh
