So this is going to be one of those parodies that plays everything straight to show the absurdity, right? The whole "This was made by idiot Americans" angle would seem to cement that.

I guess I can fit the 2nd part. Only thing of theirs I felt was above average was Little Witch. And then I watched it a 2nd time and it didn't seem so great that time. Kill la Kill being the most overrated pile of garbage of last year doesn't help. /firewall
Not really excited for this Since Trigger's only unique angle is their lazy-looking art, but I'm fair and give almost anything a shot. I'll give them 3 episodes as usual

Screw what people thought about KLK, I think Trigger will nail it this time, if they have the appropriate budget.

I really hope it brings back the good old days of violent OVA"s and anime.
I am so fascinated by it and it holds a special place in my heart.

I'm pumped for it! Trigger did a great job on KLK, so I'd like to see what they can come up with for this. It sounds like it might be a lot more serious, but hopefully still hugely over the top, because that's what made KLK so appealing.

Artstyle-wise, this looks completely different from KLK or Gurren Lagann. And that's a great thing. I think KLK was absolutely phenomenal, but it's good to diversify your style and not have all your shows look or feel the same. I can't wait for this thing.

Well, it's an adaptation. Maybe the problem with Kill la Kill was simply that these guys' strengths are in animation and not writing.
Don't know how to feel about these guys getting my hopes up with Takashi Okazaki, though. He just doing them a favor, or might he actually be the character designer?

I'll wait for the trailer but...that doesn't really do anything positive for any anticipation I have for the show...

Trigger and Ninja's. Sounds like the perfect combination to me.

KLK became a bit problematic in the second half and the Ninja Slayer manga(s) are just stylish action without a point. Still i am optimistic. Especially if you consider that this kind of anime is a bit rare these days and could reach an international market.
The market need money and the ingredients are there for fun 13 ep run. Or an ova trilogy.
I hope they don´t shoot for the starts and just try to be like Afro 1(a lot of action variety with an alibi story) and not like Afro 2(pointless drama and rehash). Trigger can make money for sure but i would like for them to prove their worth.

Totally agree, loved KLK and this looks promising, can't wait for the trailer. Cyberpunk ninjas with Trigger sounds cool.
I hope Boom Boom Satellites provides an awesome OP, to this day I still love Shut Up and Explode that was used as an OP for Xam'd.

When they do English dub trailers for promo/possible licensing purpose, do you think that they prefer to use English-speaking people in Japan or the various English-speaking VA in the US?
I can see it being the former because watching the Japanese FMA:B, the eye catchers would have an English speaker say "Fullmetal Alchemist".

Stylish action can be the point.

Go watch your K-ON or whatever and leave us action folk alone.

Stuff like that is few and far between these days. The only recent stuff I can think of that even comes somewhat close to ultra violent 90's stuff is Hellsing Ultimate, Afro Samurai, Black Lagoon, Claymore and The Berserk Films. Maybe Elfen Lied and Higurashi if you want to count those too.
Anyways, I don't think we'll ever see another boom in ultra violent stuff like in the 90's. It seems Ecchi, Moe and comedy harems are dominating the market. Trust me, I feel the same way you do about the Mech stuff which is also few and far between but mostly a lot of bad ones and few good ones every 4-5 years.
