Probably it's strange, wonderful, and sometimes hilarious, weirdness.

In other words, all the stuff that we find interesting about Japan.

I'm wondering about that. At the end of the video the other mascots looked pooped. Funasshi was pumped. I think he's got a ginseng stash in there. And maybe some wasabi.

I think I would have trouble doing a news cast with a straight face after seeing Funasshi jump around like that.

I can see why that CNN newscaster wasn't able to handle that mascot. It does seem a little goofy. I can understand that sports franchises have mascots but this? Can you imagine if all fifty states in the USA had mascots instead of state birds and other things? I don't think we'd be able to be taken seriously. They may look cute but I hope that we in the U.S. don't do this. It would just be silly.
