I don't know how new you are, but mermen are more common than you think.
Also: Blue Eyes by Hoshino Lily, Mister Mermaid, Wagamamana Ningyosama, Wild Fish, Yunatama and Junksetsu Ningyo.

Should've added "...and apparently popular enough to get its own TV anime adaptation" into my post. x)

But... Yeah, gotta admit that my knowledge of anime/manga is average at best. Thanks for the info Smile

I'm actually sort of surprised this isn't (apparently) BL.

(For the record, there was the "This Boy Caught a Merman" original anime film/OVA/(?) with, as the title suggests, a merman. It's not too long I don't think. Predecessor "This Boy Can Fight Aliens" was about 30 minutes so it can't be too much different.)

Well here's something you don't see everyday. When I hear '4 panel' I always think cute girls doing cute things.

But this is a nice change. The art looks cute and I don't this is BL? Just cute boys doing cute things? If so, yes, I'm definitely in. Laughing

All the tank covers feature nude men {and mermen? They really look the same from the top down} in the bath together. I can't say whether if it's "boy's love" or not but I'm pretty sure I'm not the target audience. But:

Oh, don't get me wrong; I'm sure they are going for a BL vibe. I'd be totally surprised if they didn't. It's just, based the BU genres and the magazine it's running in, it doesn't appear to be out-and-out BL. More a series that panders without ever confirming. When it's a male/female pair, you're going to end up with romance. The characters will say and respond to it. With not-BL titles, it more lingers around, "he's the most important person in my life...as a FRIEND!" rather than going farther. Might just have to do with broadening the audience or having more fun leaving things to the readers' imaginations. Dunno, really.

Man, besides the fact that I'm totally gonna watch this, I totally wanna read the manga!!! Anime exclamation I love the art style and the cover of the first volume where Merman is hanging out with... Tako-man??? Sugoi! Anime hyper Maybe it's high time I mosey over to amazon.jp... Cool

This looks and sounds almost freakishly similar to This Boy Caught A Merman. And just like it, this has my interest very piqued! Especially because it's probably got some comedy in it and that's my favorite genre! Very Happy (Plus, cute mermen! Anime hyper)

Wow this really did gave me some This Boy Caught A Mermaid vibe and I'm pretty happy that other people mentioned that here!Might consider watching but I hope we get some PVs soon.
