Alright i am Glad Arpeggio is doing well, First the high blu ray sales and now Top Award Nomination. This could further help with it getting another anime adaptation in the future. Hopefull one that follows the manga this time.

I hope Psycho-Pass wins. I honestly don't know how the hell Girls Und Panzer got nominated. It's okay, but it's not award-winning material. And the 6 OVAs were pure fanservice.

Because their opinion differs from yours. The OVAs were definitely 100% fanservice, but the show itself was one of the most entertaining things to watch during it's run. And in the end, entertainment value is the most important factor.

I am so torn up between Pacific Rim and Space Battleship Yamato 2199 in terms of what media I want to see winning in the media category at the Con. While Pacific Rim was an extreemly awesome U.S. giant robot flick, Space Battleship Yamato 2199 looked to me to be the best entertaining work that the anime industry had to present during the past 2 years.

I'm glad to see Arpeggio doing so well! It was a fantastic series and deserves praise, and a second season. Gargantia wasn't bad either for that matter.
But I'm almost positive we will see KanColle grab some set of prize. Especially since its basically a popularity contest, and KanColle is one of the most popular things in Japan today.

Indeed and it couldn't come at a better time too with the anime series premièring at the same time. Out of all the anime series that are airing in the summer the top 3 series i am almost will dominate the market would be Kancolle, Sword Art Online II and Tokyo Ghoul.
I really hope that arpeggio gets another anime announcement after kancolle airs it would make the series more successful by riding the popularity wake of kancolle.

If something is entertaining, it doesn't automatically mean that it's good.

It kind of does. It may not be "high brow Oancitizen I'm sooo sophisticated", but clearly it contains some inherent value because it is entertaining. I can definitely see GuP getting a nod, it introduces some interesting science fiction at least in terms of those supermassive city carriers.

Not necessarily for awards though. Otherwise, awards will always be filled with blockbusters. Some of the worthy ones are those that many people don't watch.

As much as I like Girls und Panzer, calling it sci-fi may be stretching it.

Gantz does seem to be the clear choice.
This contest has brought me to a realization: As much as I detest Pacific Rim I would rather see it win over Psycho-pass. I say this even though I paid money to suffer through Pacific Rim but saw PP for free.
...If Psycho-pass is truly the current state of the "thinking man's" anime then we have achieved Idiocracy.

Would you care to make some arguments?

The article just says
Quote: | the Seiun Awards honor all forms of speculative fiction — including but not limited to science fiction — and related materials. |
I think schools in giant ships, and tank battles as a sport for school-girls qualifies.
