Anybody else reading this? It's a surprisingly good vampire thriller/moe slice-of-life series about a vampire hunter and the cute vampire girl he protects in a vaguely European setting. The artwork has a very nice feel to it, a lot of the time the mangaka forgoes lined panels entirely for a more freeform style, and Misaki(the vampire girl) is very moe and wonderfully naive about things despite being a vampire. And Kuroe is perhaps the best vampire hunter since Shiki Tohno.

The releases by Infinity Studios are very nice, with removable covers. Check them out, I think the 3rd volume is coming out soon.

The person who created that entry answers your call. Wink

Misaki has quite a lot of moe elements together: tsundere vampire lolita with protruding fangs who takes the protagonist as a big brother (not the 1984-type) figure yet doesn't like to be treated as a little sister. The pace of the story is slow enough that it almost can be considered as a "slice of life" title, with many chapters describing trivial things in their lives. Furthermore, Kuroe is very capable, both physically and mentally, so we don't see puny and/or hot-blooded protagonist fooling around with different beautiful women falling for him.

The only complaint I have is the tankoubon release speed. It takes almost a year to have one volume published (here in Taiwan), which is really annoying.

Here in Germany "Blood Alone" is also released. But bye this time only Vol. 1 has been released. But I think Vol. 2 will follow in May.

I find this story really interessting. It's another story than the same "Vampire Stories" like "Hellsing" or "Trinity Blood" or so. Of course I like these stories too, but I like "Blood Alone" because of it romantic flair, the innocence of the young vampire lady Misaki, the old European stetting and the slow but nevertheless exciting story.

Yes, Misaki is quite appealing to me as I have a bit of a fang fetish... I like characters with even just a snaggletooth, like Tsuruya from Haruhi, Satoko from Higurashi, or the character in my avatar, so obviously a full-fanged character will catch my attention.

Kuroe is a pretty great counterpart for her as well... manly, experienced in the ways of the world, and nto easily flustered. His actions at the end of volume 2 were quite badass. It's too bad he won't reciprocate some of Misaki's feelings yet, but I guess his raging onee-chan fetish is still holding him back.

The powerful shota vampire character is also interesting. Not yet sure whether or not he'll become an enemy for our heroes.

I dont usually don't read alot of manga, but when I came across this one, I fell in love with it. The overall emotions that Misaki and Kureo share just jump out right at you. The artwork is almost simplistic in it's style and beautifully rendered to want to turn right to the next page. You want to know more about these characters story so badly that waiting for the next book to come out (#3 comes out 4-30-07) can drive you crazy.

The artwork of Misaki is beautiful, you just want to embrace and be there with her as she tries to live in a world that changes, yet she will never change herself.

Kureo is a very intreging character with a near mysterious past that you just want to trust with your life, especially knowing that he will always be there for Misaki no matter what.

To anyone who's curious, READ THIS BOOK!!!

Have you read Sugar Sugar Rune? Mayoco Anno draws the main character, a witch named Chocolat, with fangs probably 80-90% of the time. It's a great story, but you can read more of the opinions of myself and others in this thread.

No, I haven't, but maybe I will now.

It is a pretty good story. The english translation is a bit lacking. Reminds me of Kindred: The Embrace and the whole World of Darkness theme.

My fiancee found Volume 3 earlier this week at a Borders book store Wink . It's a great story this time with alot more mystery added to it. There's no action in this volume, just emotional stories and a few new twist involving Misaki's and Kureo's relationship, along with a new question about how they found each other (which I found out will be reveled in Volume 4, hopfully it wont be late like this volume was).

The story is getting more interesting and I can't wait for volume 4 to come out later this year. What I haven't heard is if there will be a volume 5 or 6 in the future. Anyone have a idea??????

I doubt it. His powers are quite intimidating but he sounds like a nice guy looking out for Misaki like that. Even though he's picking guys for companions, it's good that the author didn't go overboard like Anne Rice did with Armand.

Am I the only one who's reminded of Yu Aida's Gunslinger Girl? We've got an older guy - younger girl pair, with the loli possibly being more powerful than most adults. The covers alone are already overflowing with Giuseppe-Henrietta vibes.

Why, sure. They are serialized in the same magazine.

However, Misaki's tsundere character is quite different from Henrietta's dedication and affection. I'd say they are much more similar to the Hirscher-Triela pair.

For those who are interested, here is the cover of volume 4...
Shocked

I can hardly wait.... Wink

By the way, I heard it came out in japan just now, and there's a note I found that volume 5 will come out later this year if not early next year there. Wink

Probably a combination of both. Hirscher tends to be more formal/business-like while Giuseppe likes to spoil his kid. And I can't imagine Triela asking for a kiss.

The cover art's soo purrdy. Anime catgrin

I actualyl just finished volume 1 this past week and quite liked it. It gives you a feeling that there are much deeper emotions at play than what is on the surface. Although it does seem a bit confusing as to Misaki's and Kuroe's relationship at first, I think that's part of it's charm. That they love each other, but are already kind of like family to one another. I'm intrigued to read the next volume and see where the story is going to go.

I’ve got volumes 1-3 already. I don’t get many mangas so I pick the ones I get very carefully. I saw the cover of volume one and decided to give it a shot. I was really pleased to find that it had a good story and believable characters. I just wish it didn’t take so long between releases. If I remember correctly every volume has been delayed before coming out so far, the wait between volumes is already really long without the extra delays. So far the manga seems to be focusing on the day to day lives of the charters so it’s a little slow but it looks like they may start going into the main story really soon. I cant wait to find out about what exactly happen in the past before the manga started.
