Its getting a full nation wide release this weekend. Though it still may be somewhat limited, but imagine you can find at least one nearby theatre that has it.

This film is so good. Glad that it earned that much on a limited release, hopefully it will do well this weekend.

Still awaiting a list of the theaters on the wider-release run.

Hopefully Disney will take care in choosing what theaters they show it in; The theater I watched From Up on Poppy Hill in was shady and they had to take the disc provided to them out of the PS3 they were using to play it and clean it because it had gotten scratched up.

I looked this movie up on Wikipedia and they say it isn't Miayazaki's last film. Hopefully he'll stick around long enough to do a movie set in the U.S. or do that co-production with Walt Disney studios that I've been long hoping for. Something else that hasn't been discussed. I'm doubtful that a lot of non-Japanese Asian-Americans are going to want to sit through this movie.
If what I heard about this movie is correct,it's a pseudo-biography of the guy who designed the Zero plane. And that's going to cause some controversy in some places. Also,I doubt that the few remaining Pearl Harbor survivors or World War II veterans of the Pacific are going to sit through this. This might bring back some very bad memories for them.

You would think so, but I saw a lot of oldies at my screening last year. I personally think vets can appreciate the film, because both the average American and Japanese soldier were not so different, in terms of personal dreams and ideals, and might've been friends a lot sooner, if not for the war.

The California Theatre is in Berkeley.

The Sundance Kabuki Theatre in San Francisco's Japantown has it on three screens, two for the subtitled version, one for the re-dub.
