Same here. To me, he seems to get the top male roles in his brother's productions whether he fits it or not. The rest of the cast seems reasonable, though I was hoping they would follow the JP cast and used different people for the different ages of the characters. Not going to stop me in the least from buying the BDs, as the original cast was great.

I like the cast, but Greg Ayres again really? Satoru? Well irk, I just hope oneDay, Chris Ayres needs find new talents, please stop using your brother, srry to say it, Also there one project that to me Chris Ayres mess up with cast choice, was kokoro connect which was my favorite, Greg Ayres didn't fit the main character, Clint would be perfect for it. and luci Christian wrong choice, Genevieve Simmons would have been perfect she got that tomboy voice, heh.. ok now I got that out of me, time to wait for this to be released

I am not a big fan of Ayers either, but I think he might work as Satoru. I am going to give this dub a try. If it is at least decent, I will probably stick with it.
And another thing, Monical Rial in another Sentai dub; again? I respect her work, but SHE CANNOT DUB EVERYTHING!!

Looks pretty good for the most part, kinda iffy on Greg and Monica, but either way, looking forward to owning this.

I'm in a deep pissing mood with Sentai Filmworks and Seraphim Digital. I respect their actors and contributions to anime. Anime fans are really fed up to this typecasting every friggin time. No wonder anime dubbing is shit and cannot live to the expectations anymore. Sentai mix up their dubbing titles and send it to BZ or NYAV Post, Ocean Group that's willing to take the grain and make it good.
This is plain asinine and frustrating from Sentai to become lazy.

Oh goodness gracious me!
This could be really good or really bad depending on just two characters. I thought Black Shepard could either voice Shun or Satoru, but with Greg voicing Satoru I'm a bit nervous. Though Yuki Kaji has basically the same dynamic range similar to Greg, but I'm just worried about the childhood arc. And I thought Clint Bickham would play a wonderful Mamoru, in the adult arc I mean. We'll just have to wait and see. But overall, I'm still buying this since Its my favorite show.
Everything else seems a really good choice. Emily could pull off Saki really well with her voice young or old. I thought John Swasey would have been Squeler, but another John whom was a great choice in Night Raid will probably fit that better due to his character being both an ugly yet aristocraticly active rat. And I thought Andrew would play Shiesei, but maybe he was to busy to come in or maybe David pulled a better preformance. Though I'm just comparing due to wanting voices similar to the japanese, but I can agree with Chris Ayres philosophy to mix actors in different roles unkown by them. Just not entirely in the cast, which the list seems to agree with.

Of course she can't, since she is not in EVERY sentai dub. Unless Chris can pull another little buster by bringing Tia in, but that just sounds odd for Maria. But I'm really glad Monica is voicing a different character other than the old or loli blonde tsun/yan manipulating girl. I was annoyed a bit from hearing here 3 times in a row voicing the exact type of character though with a different voice or age. Champione, Maria Holic, an MM!
[MarthKoopa="quote"]Isn't it about time for Greg Ayres to retire?

Say that to someone like Marcy Bannor, Pam Dougherty, or Wendy Powell. Now those 3 are overstaying there welcome even though I LOVE the first 2 mentioned actresses. Marcy as an old cat in Nyankoi?............ GENIUS!
And IMO, Nobutoshi Canna basically yells like Greg Ayres which he does alot of in Little Busters.

My how things change...
I remember back in 2011 (I think it was) when Chris Ayres first directed Night Raid 1931 and it was a refreshing change from Sentai dubs that were primarily directed by Steven Foster.
Then Ayres eventually became a full-time ADR Director (2012 I think) and I feel like he's slowly been going downhill... From interviews I've watched and read he seems like a nice guy and definitely has passion but I wouldn't be surprised if his ego has swelled a bit now that he's kind of dethroned Foster as Sentai's most used ADR Director. And when you're "number 1" you probably don't second guess yourself that often; especially for some casting decisions

I hated Kokoro Connect's dub entirely because I couldn't stand Taichi's voice, and the complaints in this thread made me suspicious. Looked it up and, what do you know, it was Greg Ayers. I don't usually watch dubs anyway, but I guess this one's a foregone conclusion.

Greg Ayres voiced Kaoru in the director's cut of those final episodes of Neon Genesis Evangelion, didn't he? If I remembered right, didn't he sound decent, employing his non-scratchy voice? Has he done any non-scratchy voices like that recently?
Haven't actually seen the show yet-- might start within the week-- but I have hope for this dub all the same. If it's as good as so many (including my sister) say it is, it's definitely worthy of a good dub.

Even though I haven't seen his early dubs, I have seen more recent ones such as Mysterious Girlfriend X and Another, and those dubs each had their own sets of issues, especially Another (Ayres also did the script). Of course I don't know all that happens behind the scenes, but a lot of the problems seem like they could be easily remedied, so they just come off as being lazy, which makes it so much more frustrating. Sentai definitely needs better QC, that's for sure.
