Yeah, this is a pretty good one. For what it is, anyway
The soundtrack is nice and energic from what I can remember and I'm personally very fond of the drawing style used here. I do own 2 volumes of the manga, but it's a bit different in both tone and style. Really like the way this OVA starts out - the loud clunk & creak from the door opening coupled with those electric guitars never fail to get me pumped. I do hope to pick this one up on LD one day

I really enjoy how these columns are like an in-depth profile of forgotten shows, complete with details like tie-ins and spin offs that I'd never seek out or find on my own. It gives a sense of the weight of history behind this medium, that all of these properties can just sink into the ether.

Your point would only be more-so magnified if Justin were discussing the chronicling the hundreds of forgotten TV series over the decades, like he did with Tokimeki Tonight. |

Oh my, this was the series with the guy that made a point of peeking under Natsuki's skirt every 10 minutes. Even when he got sliced in half, I'll give him that.

It was decent. The fights were pretty well detailed, and I enjoyed the characters. Too bad the story was only getting started. Never played the games this was based off.

It was based off an 18-volume manga that, unfortunately, only has one chapter translated into English. |

Another title I'll check out, thanks Justin.
Most of your "Pile of Shame" recommendations have been good picks. I find it refreshing to watch some older anime once in a while (I've already seen most of Discotek's library of titles) I look forward to more obscure titles you'll dig up. |

After reading the article I ended up tracking it down and watching it. I loved it felt like the other shows of the time when I was a young kid and my sister put on some of the Anime she was able to rent.
While dated by today's standards if you grew up on 90's Anime it's not as much as a shocker. Wish their was more I read that it was based on a long running manga series. Definitely the first episode was better and it ended before it could go anywhere but a fun trip back to my childhood. Another plus was the main girl was voiced by Ai Orikasa who did Ryoko in the Tenchi Muyo series. |

Justin, you nailed it for me, agree on every point.
I remember how much I enjoyed the opening scene in the school dojo; that traditional hand-drawn style that tugs at my eyes & my feelings in a way that most contemporary animé does not. I guess I'm a pre-cgi kind of guy; first ep excellent, second ep poor. Nico M London UK |
