Gee, thanks Madman for letting down the team again. What a bunch of muppets.

I still don't get how this keeps happening.
For the record though.... it wasn't that good. Are they gonna repeat the "Dandy can't shoot things" joke all the time? It was mildly amusing the first time. Not so funny after that.

Get your shit together Madman! I'm still waiting on the dub though so I'm not watching it

I doubt this will affect them at all. I mean, it's not like they stream anime.

Yes, let's blame the people who didn't lock their doors well, and not blame the robbers at all!
The Oreimo incident here on ANN still ranks as one of the worst days of my life. Crap like this has real world consequences and drastically affects people's livelihoods. There's plenty of blame to go around, but frankly the people that do this sort of thing are a bunch of destructive psychopaths who justify their thievery by claiming it their "duty" to point out when companies aren't engaging in proper security by royally screwing them over in the most destructive way possible. I have absolutely no patience for it.

Wait, I thought Madman was guy who leaked the episode.
If Madman's the company from where the leak came from, who's the guy who leaked it? Was it someone from the company, or was the file on some unsecured server and someone just went in and took it?
PS: It's interesting to see that the leaked episode has English hardsubs for the opening, ending and signs.

the fact of the matter is, if there is a weakness people will take advantage of it....that's never going to change. The only thing that can be done is for Madman to implement better security to reduce that weakness.
It really does suck for Madman as companies might now think twice about giving them simulcast rights in the future (as this has happened before).
Its a shame there are people out there that do these things... ruining it for everyone else

They didn't rip the subs with it, damn you torrenters! Bloody hell, I got all excited for nothin'.
I regularly go into Madman's server to watch their videos despite not living in Australia because I like their high-quality stuff better and I didn't see any Space Dandy files.

The previous Kill la Kill and Coppelion leaks were from changing numbers in the page source, but the leak this time was because Madman made the episode public early...

Didn't even know those were leaked as well. As for the subs for SD, I don't think they are ready. If they had been ready, I think the leak would have included them.

That's not what I was saying. Of course I blame the thieves; that's such a given I shouldn't even have to say it. But I also blame Madman too. If they want to be in the streaming business they need to have better security practices, such as not putting an episode up onto a publicly-accessible server before it's ready to be there.
This isn't the first time it's happened. Once is negligence, especially since they made the same mistake other companies like ANN already made years ago. Twice is just incompetence, plain and simple. They didn't take simple, easy and well-known steps to protect the episode. It wasn't like it was a zero-day exploit that nobody could have reasonably been expected to defend against.
Madman are not the only ones who are hurting from this. The various Japanese companies involved, the other international licensees, and of course the fans. Sure we get this episode a few days earlier than otherwise. But our access to simulcasting may be impaired in the future if Japanese rights-holders cannot trust overseas companies to sufficiently and competently protect their episodes.

Ooof. It's too bad this happened with this series in particular, given how much extra attention its paid to western audiences.

I'm pretty sure that's WHY it happened to this series. Probably someone going "America gets this series first? Not if I can help it!".

So Madman had plenty of leaks of Coppelion, an episode of Kill la Kill and now Space Dandy. Still, their streams are low quality and their PAL DVD transfers likely take the same material. The fact that this was going to be a "world premiere" for the full first episode really excited me. So much for that. Madman really needs to step it up with their security at any rate so pricks can stop ruining new episodes.
Australian/British companies have it bad enough with ridiculous region codes. It shouldn't be worse with leaks.
