I wonder if the R1 companies will ever take a look at the anime of this. Like "The Unlimited", which came out around the same time, it has seemingly escaped the notice of all the R1-ers.
I guess I find that fascinating as a)Sentai Filmworks licenses so much and b)I'm still used to a time where I only knew about anime titles because R1 companies released them.

These new titles probably introducing new protagonist and new heroine routes; same universe as Extra but have tendency to branch out to a new alternate universe like Unlimited did. I do suspect the alternate universe will be more into fairy/fantasy setting.

Well The Unlimited totally flopped it Japan big time and the original series has never been released either. I'd expect someone to pick up Muv Luv: Total Eclipse cheap at some point.

I could see that, the Beta are now a horde of demons and the setting for the player takes place in a magic academy, shenanigans and gorn ensues.

Muv-Luv is seriously under-rated... although I admit I'm saying that as someone who has read the Unlimited and Alternative manga storylines a not as someone who has played the games. I really don't know Muv-Luv all that well for its eroge content, but I love the art and detail that went into the story of humanity fighting a losing war against the alien race of Beta. You'd think with the cult-like following that Evangelion had/has, that there'd be more people stepping up to the plate to gamble on a "non-spinoff" Muv-Luv anime series. Then again, Japan is a weird place, and I'm sure whoever handles the Muv-Luv franchise over there is happy enough making money through videogames and (TSF) models.
The problem with Muv-Luv Total Eclipse was that with all its flash, there wasn't a lot of substance a newcomer could actually fully grasp. There seemed to be a lot of back story missing from the overall setting, almost like the series was only tagetted at pre-existing fans to try and sell merchandise. Since I am a fan of Muv-Luv, and I could understand the story's context, I would happily buy an English release despite its more obvious flaws, etc.

That particular gorn scene (yes, I'm talking about that infamous proto-Mami Mogu Mogu aka Marimo Mogu Mogu aka CHOMP) gave me countless sleepless night and I hate every time the game use it as a flashback ploy. I wonder what brand of gore age gonna put in the "innocence" setting if they going for fairy/fantasy setting.
Well, Kebble, I think one of the reason Muv Luv is under-rated and quite unknown outside Japan and otaku circle because its original material is based on eroge. It makes harder to export the idea to the main media since it might not fair well with the "moral guardians" of certain countries.
Ironically, Muv Luv Unlimited and Alternative unrated PC version are lack of eroge scenes. Unlimited blatantly made the girls' Eishi cadet suits semi transparent on "certain" parts and have some share of ecchii scene. However, they toned it down in Alternative and focus more on the political intrigue and conflict and MC character development; something you don't see often in eroge.
I do agree Total Eclipse were meant for the those who already read/played Muv Luv Alternative and Unlimited After Days/Chronicles or played the Total Eclipse itself. It's hard to shallow the show if you're only here for the mecha vs. aliens elements. The ending left most of the fans hanging; knowing they not gonna do the sequel from it.

The lack of an anime (of the original story, not the shit known as Total Eclipse) is the main problem. Currently, most people aren't going to read visual novels regardless of whether there's porn or not.
