But what would the movie be about?
Since the anime is still ongoing and adapting the manga chapter by chapter.
Would it be a totally separate side story?

Even a side-story is hard to do, since it has to fit into the established timeline of the series (unless it is deliberately non-canon). Space Brothers' timeline doesn't have any gaps that a movie could exploit to tell a canon side-story. Not one featuring the titular brothers, at any rate.

The series did a huge time-skip last season, jumping past two years of AsCan training to make Mutta a full-fledged astronaut. We didn't get to see his first exposure to the centrifuge, multi-axis trainer or the Vomit Comet. Plenty of room for a movie there.

When is Sentai exactly going to put this plans in motion (has been a while since they announced it) if they mean a physical release i would jump right on that.
