An organization actually depicted themselves as an octopus greedily wrapping its tentacles around the earth?
The United States has been drifting toward super-villainy for a while, but this is unbelievable. |

I'm wondering how much the original logo designers are enjoying their new assignment taking hourly temperature readings at one of the Arctic radar monitoring stations?

Wait... that octopus is the ACTUAL logo of the spysat?
Why not just have them put on crazy costumes and call themselves Kig Torture while they're at it? It's pretty close anyway. |

Good god just combine the US Military and Intelligence organizations and just call them SPECTRE! Oh and the Daily show spot was pretty funny.

I was there when /a/ learned about this. 'Twas amazing.
For those wondering, a pic of Tsukiko is the first result on google when searching "Hentai". With safe search off or on, by the way. |

Oh! I saw the Daily Show but didn't recognize the character. It makes sense that the graphic designers would just grab the first character that showed up on a "hentai" search. Thought the bit was hilarious in any case. An octopus grabbing the Earth? Who came up with this logo, anyway? Dr. Doom? |

I saw the interview with an actress from the Oldboy movie on the Daily Show, but they didn't even mention the original work, which didn't make me happy. I love the Daily Show, but I wish they would pay attention to the anime community as well, even if just a little, since they pay attention to Breaking Bad, Harry Potter, and other fan cultures...

That's blowing it a bit out of proportion, isn't it? Anyway, the reason the American Oldboy was made is because of the rather good Korean live-action film directed by Park Chan-wook which wasn't a particularity close adaptation of the original Japanese comic, so it isn't "anime" by any stretch. |

I'll have to watch this episode On Demand tonight, (could never stay up late to watch the first run episodes). John Stewart and his crew write the best comedy/satire/parody on TV.

This is too funny. I funny that octopus and squids have been the preferred creature of "grabby hands". Well, when you watch all those conspiracy theory sites they always use the octopus to represent the corporations hold on the world. And still is. I wonder what brought this about. And then of course in Japan the history behind "grabby hands" goes back to the whole 'Fisherman's Wife' story and image. My question is what brought that thought to life.
