...So, so insanely jealous of anyone who gets to go to this now. Grr. I'd love the chance to meet Watsuki, he seems so laid back and fun based on his author comments in his works, more so than most other authors I've read works from. That and, KENSHIN. SPEED LINES. *drools*

I remember meeting him back in 2006 at SDCC. His staff wouldn't let anyone take pictures of him and they were intentionally blocking people's view.

Wow that's a really cool guest. He is a manga-ka I'd love to meet. Too bad with an upcoming trip to Japan, I can't afford Las Vegas too.
Hopefully they will have equally good guests at the next Otakon in Baltimore. |

I'm not a fan of Kenshin so this does not inspire me to go.
I got the impression that Otakon Vegas, an impression solidified by the con booking a renown mangaka, was more for the snobbish, nose-in-the-air sub-purists who fancy themselves to be the biggest brains on the planet and won't rest until Japanese is the only language spoken on Earth (so I expect ANN to be pretty much dead during Otakon Vegas, unless they have good wifi/4g there), aka the "real fans". The guy who created Kenshin, a pretty vulgar work, is to the pretentious weeaboo what Otakon Baltimore's Maile Flanagan was to the dub-lovin' shounen fans. I find that humorous. |

I've been looking forward to this, since they announced Otakon Vegas earlier in the year. It's actually very cheap to go to Vegas, if you know where to look and book everything 9-10 months in advance. Gambling and anime, can't go wrong with that. Lose all your money in the dealers room and the casino, now that's a combination. Can't wait.

Is that your view of Otakon Baltimore as well? Since they did try to get Watsuki for this year's, but he was too busy. And as noted in the article, his wife was a guest this year as well. |

...I...fail to see how loving a manga author goes into sub or dub territory at all. I mean, without the manga author and the original manga, there is no anything else, so...
For what it's worth though, I do like the Kenshin dub (the one with Richard Cansino, Lex Lang, Wendee Lee, and Dorothy Fahn anyway), but I'm more a fan of the manga for that than I am the anime anymore anyway. |

Yeah, for heaven's sake, both Naruto and Kenshin are mainstream, Shonen Jump manga that have been translated and widely released in English. Where is the difference, snobbery wise?
